2016 Spring Team Preview: Lancaster Golden Gales

With the 2016 spring season right around the corner, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage throughout the entire state.

Starting February 1st, we began releasing team previews for teams across the state, leading into the Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings.

2016 Spring Team Preview: Lancaster Golden Gales

Team Name: Lancaster Golden Gales

2015 Record: 18-9
Conference Record: OCC-Ohio 8-6
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 6/2

2016 Team Strengths:

2016 Team Weaknesses:

  • Pitching Depth
  • Offensive Depth

PBR Outlook: Coming off an 18-win season in 2015, coach Corey Conn and the Golden Gales return six starters in hopes of a successful 2016 campaign. Lancaster looks to have solid pitching at the top to go along with good defense and athleticism.

  • Trevor Monk (pictured right), OF/RHP, 2016, 6’0” 190, R/R, three year starter, captain, .385 BA, 14 2B, 4 3B, 24 RBI.  2-2, 0.30 ERA, 23 innings, 12 K, 10BB
  • Harrison Gilmore, RHP/1B, 2016, 6’5” 250, R/R, 6-2, 1.47 ERA, 52 innings, 52 K, 18 BB
  • Chris Meszaros, CF, 2017, 5’10” 170, R/R, Started as a sophomore, hit .281 with clutch hits, Great defensive outfielder
  • Noah Dryden, MIF, 2017, 5’10” 175, R/R, Started as a freshmen, Solid defensively with good approach at the plate
  • Avery Baker, 1B/DH, 2018, 6’3” 185, R/R, Started as a freshman, .313 BA, 10 RBI, Good stick

Brandon BarnetteTop Underclassmen:

  • Brandon Barnette (pictured right), C/OF, 2018, 6’1” 180, R/R, Saw time as a freshmen, Has potential to develop into a good two-way player
  • Jake Richards, LHP, 2019, 6’1” 160, L/L, Projects well as a pitcher, Good command and is a competitor
