2016 Spring Team Preview: Lexington Minutemen

Team Name: Lexington Minutemen
Head Coach: Kevin Morrow
Division: II
2015 Record: 16-12
Conference Record: Ohio Cardinal Conference, Co-champs
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 7/5

2016 Team Strengths:

  • Starting pitching
  • Team base running speed
  • 1B that cleans it up
  • Speed in outfield
  • 3B

2016 Team Weaknesses:

  • Proven RBI production in 4,5,6 hole
  • Closer role for pitching
  • Senior leadership

Coach Outlook: We are defending conference champions with all of our starting pitching coming back. We lost DI prospect Evan Lee who was our closer and SS. We have to replace our power and RBI production, but we return our best base stealers and OBP leaders. We return our DH, catcher, 1B, 3B, pitchers, and two outfielders. We must replace CF, SS, and 2B. We have several impressive underclassmen that will debut. If we get some RBI's we will be competitive in our league and district.

Top Returning Players:

  • Hunter Biddle, 3B/P/SS/OF, JR, 6'0” 170, R/R, second team all conference, second team all district, excellent speed and arm, led team in steals and runs, .350 BA, best record on team for starting pitching
  • Austin Eifrid, SS/P/2B, 6'0” 160, R/R, #2 starting pitcher, second in steals, third in runs scored, .360 BA
