2016 Spring Team Preview: Newark Catholic Green Wave

Team Name: Newark Catholic Green Wave
Head Coach: John Cannizzaro, 446-177
Division: IV
2015 Record: 23-11
Conference Record: Licking County League, 10-7
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 6/0

2016 Team Strengths:

  • Leadership
  • Defense
  • Speed

2016 Team Weaknesses:

  • Pitching Experience

Coach Outlook: "We graduated our top 3 pitchers from last year's Division IV state title team. We also lost our No 3, 4 and 5 guys in our batting order. If we find replacements we could be pretty good since we have experience at all other defensive positions. Senior catcher Mitch Lohr will be starting his fourth year for the Green Wave."

PBR Outlook: The Green Wave are the cream of the crop for Division IV in Ohio. Year in and year out, no matter what their record it, come tournament time you will more than likely see the Green Wave at Huntington Park. Will that be the case this year? Only time will tell, but I can tell you one thing, they will start the season ranked number one.
