With the 2016 spring season right around the corner, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage throughout the entire state.

Starting February 1st, we began releasing team previews for teams across the state, leading into the Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings.

2016 Spring Team Preview: Peninsula Woodridge Bulldogs

Team Name: Peninsula Woodridge Bulldogs
Head Coach: Dennis Dever
Division: II
2015 Record: 19-11
Conference Record: Portage Trail Conference- County Division, 11-1
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 5/3

2016 Team Strengths: Speed is a definite team strength with several base stealing threats returning.  Additionally, our team defense will be very strong up the middle with several starters returning at these positions.

2016 Team Weaknesses: Pitching depth is a concern as we lost over 120 Varsity innings.

Coach Outlook: We are playing on the Metro side of the Portage Trail Conference for the first time, expecting to compete to win a school record fourth consecutive league championship. Additionally, we are striving to play in the District Championship game for the third consecutive year.

  • Jackson Taylor, LHP/OF, 2016 6'0” 175, L/L, three year starter, 40 IP, 4-1 record, 1 save, 2.10 ERA, 30 K, 27 BB, 94 AB, 23 R, 24 RBI, 28 H, .298 BA, 10/11 SB, undecided
  • Preston Clark, SS/RHP, 2017, 6'1” 170, R/R, three year starter, 96 AB, 23 R, 17 RBI, 35 H, .365 BA, 21/23 SB, currently being seriously recruited by Toledo and to a lesser degree Kent State
  • Kasey Kelleher, C, 2017, 5’11” 215, R/R, two year starter, 77 AB, 10 R, 11 RBI, 20 H, .260 BA, 10/14 caught stealing, one of best defensive catchers in area
  • Jake Margroff, OF/RHP, 2017, 6’0” 175, L/R, two year starter, 82 AB, 17 R, 14 RBI, 21 H, .256 BA, 13/15 SB, 6.5 60 time, fastest kid I've ever coached

Top Underclassmen:

  • Mason Lydic, INF/RHP, 2018, 6'1” 175, R/R, possible #2 pitcher, top JV arm last season as freshman, will compete for starting job at 3B
  • Zane Patterson, RHP, 2018, 6'2” 230, possible #2/#3 pitcher, top freshman team pitcher last season, big, strong kid
