2016 Spring Team Preview: Wilmington Hurricanes

Team Name: Wilmington Hurricanes
Head Coach: Rick Kneisel
Division: I
2015 Record: 9-12
Conference Record: SCOL, 6-8
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 5/4

2016 Team Strengths:

  • Great work ethic
  • Desire to compete
  • Willingness to work in the offseason and summer
  • Pitching
  • Leadership
  • Great off field attitude
  • Good mix of seniors and underclassmen

2016 Team Weaknesses:

  • Catching depth, a lot of unknown here
  • General depth

Coach Outlook: There is a lot to be optimistic about in 2016. Wilmington has quite a few returning players with varsity experience yet there is still a good mix of seniors and underclassmen. The two leading hitters are back from last year’s squad and neither are seniors this year. Almost all of the pitching is back and there appears to be fairly good quality in the sophomore class coming up.
