With the 2017 spring season right around the corner, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage throughout the entire state.

Starting in Mid-January, we began releasing team previews for teams across the state, leading into the Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings.

2017 Spring Team Preview: Edgewood Panthers

Team Name: Edgewood
Head Coach: Matt Root
Division: I
2016 Record: 16-8
Conference Record: Southwest Ohio Conference, 10-2
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 6/4

2017 Team Strengths:

  • Pitching
  • Infield

2017 Team Weaknesses:

  • Outfield

Coach Outlook: "We return 3 of our top 4 pitchers from last season. We also return 3 of our 4 starting infielders and our center fielder. We expect to compete for a league title this season."

PBR Outlook: The Panthers and head coach Matt Root look to take next step in 2017 with a solid core of players returning off an 18-win 2016 campaign. With solid arms returning and an All-State caliber SS, look for the Panthers to be a team to watch this season.

  • Drew Reckart- SS, 5-11, 175, R/R, 3 year starter, team captain and committed to The University of Dayton. Two time All SWOC First Team Sophomore and Junior year.
  • Koby Schmidt- 3B/C, 5-10, 200, R/R, 2 year starter, First Team All SWOC Sophomore year.
  • Ethan McCarty- P/CF, 6-5, 180, R/R, 2 year starter, Second Team All Conference Sophomore year.
  • Nick Noble- P/2B, 6-0, 160, R/R, 2 year starter, Second Team All Conference Sophomore year.
