April 5th Daily Scoreboard Update



DIVISION I/II TEAM RANKINGS

#1 Strongsville (6-0)
 

#2 Mason (6-2) beat Hamilton 16-0.

#3 Defiance (6-0) defeated Elida 20-1 in 5 innings. Anthony Kidston (Louisville recruit) improved to 3-0 on the season going 4 innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 11 and not walking a batter. Kidston was also 2-4 at the plate. Rob Zeigler hit his 3rd homerun of the season.

#4 Massillon Jackson (5-1) beat #26 North Canton Hoover 10-3. Hoover had the bases loaded in three different innings but managed only one run. The leading hitters for Jackson were Jeff Edwards (Valpo recruit) and Andrew Stalhnaker. Both went 2 for 4 at the plate.

#5 Centerville (8-0) beat #30 Milford 22-1 in 5 innings behind junior Brian Mroz's complete game.  He struck out 2, walked 3 and allowed 1 unearned run. Senior Cole Fitzgerald went 4-4 with 2 triples and 5 RBI. Junior Sean Murphy went 4-5 with 5 RBI and junior Nick Bertram went 4-4 w/ 5 RBI. In the second game, the Elks beat Centerville 6-2 with sophomore pitcher Ryan Fox going 6 innings for the win. Fox allowed 2 earned runs, 6 hits, 3 walks, and struck out 4. Junior Derek Hendrixson went 1-2 with a double, 2 walks, 3 runs, 1 RBI and 2 stolen bases. Senior Cole Fitzgerald hit his 3rd triple of the day.

#6 Grove City (8-0) beat Groveport 15-4 tonight. Brandon Gooch picked up the win on the mound. Sophomore Ben Myers led the hitting with 3 hits including two doubles. Senior Tyler Kent added a double and solo home run. Sophomore Tyler Cowles added a triple and a double at the plate.

#7 Elder (7-3)

#8 Walsh Jesuit (6-1) beat Berkshire 5-0. Sophomore Frank Cioffi picked up the win. Freshman Blake Jenkins went 2 for 3. Cassidy Brown went 1 for 3 with a key double in the 6th.

#9 St. Ignatius (4-1) 

#10 Moeller (6-2) 

#11 Columbus DeSales (8-2) 

#12 Mentor (4-0) beat #15 Willoughby South 7-1. Senior Justin Fritts had a double and RBI.

#13 Sandusky (6-1) lost to #18 Norwalk 3-2.

#14 New Albany (7-0) 

#15 Willoughby South (2-1) lost to #12 Mentor 7-1.

#16 Toledo Central Catholic (3-1)

#17 Hudson (6-0)

#19 Norwalk (8-0) beat #13 Sandusky 3-2.

#20 Jonathan Alder (6-1) beat River Valley 6-0. Senior Wes Fauver pitched a complete game.

#21 Steubenville (3-1)

#22 Ashland (6-0)

#25 Brunswick (5-1) beat #46 St. Edwards 3-2. Tyler Greiner had a homerun, sac fly, and 2 RBI. Junior Kyle Michalik (OSU recruit) picked up the save.

#26 North Canton Hoover (5-1) lost to #4 Massillon Jackson 10-3. Hoover had the bases loaded in three different innings but managed only one run. The leading hitters for Jackson were Jeff Edwards (Valpo recruit) and Andrew Stalhnaker. Both went 2 for 4 at the plate.

#27 Gahanna Lincoln (6-2) 

#28 Bowling Green (5-1)

#29 Canton South (6-1) beat Minerva (1-5) by a score of 7-0. For Canton South, D.J. Wilson had three hits and two runs scored and Damon Wade had two hits and an RBI. Tyler Klimko had two hits for Minerva.

#30 Milford (6-4) lost two games to #5 Centerville.

#31 Toledo St. Johns (1-2)

#32 Pickerington Central (4-3) lost 7-4 to Bearden (TN). Sophomore Kyle Casserly hit a solo homerun in the losing effort. 

#33 Findlay (5-1)

#34 Westerville Central (8-2) 

#35 Anderson (6-1) split with Turpin (8-3). In the first game, Turpin beat Anderson 4 to 3  in 13 innings. Senior Ryan Peytes went 7 and 2/3 innings giving up 2 earned runs and 7 hits while striking out 3. Anderson Senior Nick Mason went 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 11. Turpin’s Sam Easley went 5 and 1/3 innings for the win in relief. Peytes also went 3-5 at the plate. Junior Bobby Calder knocked in sophomore Derek Varner for the winning run in the 13th. In the second game, Anderson beat Turpin 13-4. Senior pitcher Bela Perler (NKU recruit) started and went four innings allowing 3 runs and 3 hits while striking out 6. Anderson Senior Tommy Palmer went 2-3 with 2 walks and 3 runs. Junior Sean Beebe went 2-5 with 3 stolen bases and 2 runs.

#36 Lakota East (5-2) 

#37 Amherst Steele (4-2) beat Berea 2-1. Junior Shawn Reid took a perfect game into the 7th. He allowed one hit, one walk, and 10 strikeouts in his appearance. He also went 1 for 2 at the plate with an RBI. Junior Griffin Weir added two hits as well.

#38 Glen Oak (4-1)  

#39 Olentangy Orange (7-0)  

#40 Perrysburg (3-1-2) beat Toledo Start 2-0. Anthony Rorgi threw a 3-hit shutout, striking out 12, while walking just one.

#41 Vandalia Butler (4-5) falls to Lebanon (3-5) by a score of 4-1. Senior Mathias Brewer pitched a complete game and only allowed 4 hits.

#42 Loveland (8-0) beat Little Miami 11-7. Sam Timmerman had the win. Loveland is now 6-0 in FAVC play and will face Hamilton and Centerville this Saturday in a double-header. 

#43 Shaker Heights (4-1)

#44 Fairfield (8-0) beat Sycamore 12-1.

#45 Archbishop Hoban (5-2) 

#46 St. Edwards (1-3) lost to #25 Brunswick 3-2.

#47 West Holmes (7-0) 

#48 Pickerington North (4-2) beat Morgantown (WV) 4-2 in a rain shortened game. Senior Cale Giddings (Akron recruit) had two hits to lead the way on offense. 

#49 North Olmsted (5-2) lost to Brecksville Broadview Heights by a score of 13-3.

#6 Independence (6-2) lost to Columbia (4-1) by a score of 5-4.

#16 Archbold (4-2) lost to Napoleon (2-4) by a score of 4-3. Napoleon's Tyler Miller only allowed 4 hits in his outing. Archbold's Tyson Dietrich only allowed 4 hits as well.

#17 Bloom Carroll (6-2) moves to 3-0 in the league with a 3-2 victory at Teays Valley. Junior Jake Newton hit a 2 out RBI single in the top of the 7th to give the Bulldogs the lead. Newton also pitched going 6 innings allowing just 3 hits, 1 earned run while striking out 10.

#18 Fairview (6-1) beat Edgerton 10-0 in 6 innings behinds the arm of senior Brett Fitzwater. Fitzwater went 5 innings, striking out 10, while allowing 3 hits and issuing 2 walks. Junior Tyler Nusbaum went 4-4 at the plate and scored 3 runs.

Clearview (2-0) picked up another conference win against Black River (2-2). Junior first baseman Ryan Vargo, and senior centerfielder Alonso Southard carried the Clippers to victory offensively. Vargo went 3 for 3 with an RBI double, while Southard went 3 for 5 with a solo home run.

Dublin Coffman (4-2) beat Big Walnut (5-3) by a score of 10-8.

Mount Vernon (2-6) beat Olentangy Liberty (4-2) by a score of 15-3.

Delaware (7-2) beat Westland (3-3) by a score of 10-0.

Westerville North beat Sandusky Perkins 3-2.

Licking Heights (6-1) beat West Jefferson 4-0.

Northridge (6-1) loses to Centerburg (6-3) by a score of 2-1.

Shekinah Christian (4-2) beats Madison Plains (1-3) by a score of 4-3.

Chardon (5-1) beat Warren Harding 6-2. John Martillotta went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk. Jake Kirsh went 2 for 2 with a double and 2 walks. Senior Jeff Seufer pitched a complete game with 5 strike outs. 

Crestwood (4-5) beat Rootstown (2-3) by a score of 7-3. Seniors David Brock and PJ Scarl both went 3 for 5 at the plate.

Miamisburg beat Fairmont 7-0. Freshman Cole Brandenburg threw a complete game. He struck out 12 batters and allowed 3 hits.  

Kilbourne beat Seaholm (MI) 14-4. Sophomore Charlie Foster threw 4 innings to pick up his 2nd win. Tom Scantland led the offense with a single and a triple.

Bellefontaine beat Urbana 13-3.  

Kirtland (6-1) beat Hawken (4-6) by a score of 14-6.

Avon Lake beat Westlake 5-4.

Midview (4-4) run ruled Elyria Catholic (4-3) by a score of 10-0. Junior southpaw Eric Lauer improved to 2-0 on the year. Lauer showed an 88-91 mph fastball. He allowed one hit and struck out 13 batters. 

Rocky River (3-1) beat Vermillion (4-3) by a score of 7-3.

Wickliffe (4-2) beat Bedford 7-4. 

Cuyahoga Heights (5-2) beat John Hay (0-4) by a score of 26-0.

Akron SVSM (4-2) beat Kent Roosevelt (1-5) by a score of 9-4.

Marlington (3-2) beat Salem (0-6) by a score of 10-0. For Marlington, Dymonte Thomas had three hits, three RBIs and two runs scored, Tony Rupert and Conner O’Brein had two hits each and Michael Tolerton struck out nine and pitched a four-hit shutout.

Carrollton beat Alliance (3-1) by a score of 3-2.

Louisville (4-2) beat West Branch 10-3. For Louisville, Dillon Stertzbach had three hits and two RBIs, Connor Ruffier had three hits and two runs scored and Kyle White had two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored. Beau Taylor had two hits for West Branch.
