Countdown to Signing Day: Bowling Green's 2013 Recruiting Class

With the fall signing period starting on November 14th, PBR Ohio will be taking a look at the number of players from Ohio headed to a college program within the state’s borders. Each day, we will break down a school's class player-by-player. Earlier, we reviewed Akron's recruiting class, and now we move on to Bowling Green.

The Falcons, who are not a fully funded program, don’t have the same margin for error as other programs when it comes to handing out scholarships and are often forced to rely even more on impact walk-on players. In this year’s class, they have a solid crew of athletic, blue-collar type players.

Last winter, Lima Shawnee right-handed pitcher Tyler Anderson issued an early commitment to the Falcons. Unfortunately for Anderson, he had some arm issues and had to shut down during the spring, so he is a relatively unknown commodity. At a winter PBR showcase in 2011, he showed a live arm with a mid 80’s fastball and an effective breaking ball.

Not too far into the summer, Coach Schmitz and recruiting coordinator Coach Blanc secured a commitment from Pickerington Central’s Greg Basalyga, who shows two-way potential with a power corner bat and upper 80’s fastball on the mound.

Keeping with the theme of athletic prospects, the Falcon’s are also adding Port Clinton’s uber athletic prospect Addison Rospert (pictured upper right), Wapakoneta two-way prospect Johnny Crawford, and Pickerington Central outfielder Devon Fisk. Rospert, who's dad played infield at Kent State, brings the versatility to play in the infield or the outfield. Crawford (who's strength is on the mound) and Fisk are both left-handed bats with above average speed.
