Districts championships around the state of Ohio are always difficult. Playing back-to-back days and using your one, two, three and possibly fourth pitcher on your staff really shows the talent of a program.

That being said the Archbold District boasts some of the top talent in NW Ohio and in Division II as No. 5 Defiance squares off against No. 4 Wauseon in game one at 4:30 PM and No. 13 Napoleon faces No. 23 Bryan in game two following the first in Archbold.

The winners will play on Saturday with the victors of that game going go the Tiffin Regional.

Defiance, 22-5Dom Gentile, 3B, Defiance, 2014

The Defiance Bulldogs are the defending Division II state championship and have traditionally been a top program in the entire state year in and year out. Head coach Tom Held has a career record of 407-64 in his 16 years at Defiance and has averaged 25+ wins a year. Defiance was the number one ranked team in the preseason rankings this season.

Wauseon, 21-5Axel Bueter vs Defiance

The Wauseon Indians were ranked number 4 in the preseason rankings and are playing their best baseball this season as they have won 10 games in a row, including a 7-2 win over Defiance. Wauseon also defeated Napoleon 9-5 and Bryan 2-0 so they would presumably be the favorite.

Napoleon, 16-9Michael Gilliland vs Bryan

Napoleon was a surprise to most in the preseason rankings as they started number 20, but a big opening week, where they defeated Defiance 2-1, helping put the Wildcats on peoples radars. Napoleon has been ranked as high as No. 3 in the week four rankings.

Bryan, 18-8Derek Knisely catching vs Napoleon

The Bryan Golden Bears started the season ranked number 19 in the preseason rankings and jumped all the way up to number four after a big weekend which included a 10-5 win over Napoleon. Bryan had a few rough losses including a 2-0 loss to Wauseon but are playing well now and will prove to be a threat to all four teams.
