Inside the Recruitment: '15 3B Brad Hagerich commits to Mount Union

Brad Hagerich, 3B, Amherst Steele HS, Class of 2015

PBR: Why did you choose Mount Union?

Hagerich: When I first visited Mount Union I had a certain connection with the people there which made the choice pretty easy. Both the coaches and players were welcoming and gave me a positive vibe every time I talked to them. Mount also has a great reputation for academics which eventually determined my choice.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Hagerich: Heidelberg University and Spalding University

PBR: Where did the coaches first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?

Hagerich: They saw me at PBR events and at a Coach Agona summer showcase. The coaches have been great and we’ve formed a good relationship especially between Coach Armstrong and I. We talk quite a bit and he was another reason I chose Mount Union

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Hagerich: The coaches want me help as much as I can my first year. They want me to work hard and play for a starting position for the spring season.

PBR: What summer team do you play on and how has travel baseball helped your development as a player?

Hagerich: I play for Premier Athletics in the summer. By playing for Premier I’ve been able to compete against top players and teams giving me the opportunity to play at the highest level. This also has given me the chance to see what it will be like playing in college.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Hagerich: My brother has had the biggest impact since he plays college baseball and has gone through this process himself. So he is able to give me advice and pointers on ways to improve my skills.

PBR: Who is the best pitcher in Ohio that you have ever faced?

Hagerich: Either Griffin Weir, Amherst Alum, who plays at Stanford or Eric Lauer, Midview Alum, who plays at Kent State.
