Inside the Recruitment: '15 INF, Kyle Bowling commits to Mount Vernon Nazerene

PBR: Why did you choose Mount Vernon Nazerene?

Bowling:  I chose MVNU because I felt comfortable there.  The atmosphere was tremendous and the baseball team made me feel like family. Unlike, the other colleges I visited.  

PBR: What other schools were you considering? 

Bowling:  I was considering Ohio Christian, Thomas More, and Ohio Dominican was showing interest.

PBR: Where did Coach Veale first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff? 

Bowling: Coach Veale first seen me at the fall camp MVNU held. My relationship first developed with the assistant coach, Justin Brown. He seen my profile and invited me to the camp. I visited a couple of times and the relationship grew into an offer. 

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus? 

Bowling: They see me as a middle infielder. This year’s team is graduating ten seniors. 

PBR: What summer team do you play on and how has travel baseball helped your
development as a player?

Bowling: I play on Cincinnati Baseball Club. The talent we played over the summer pushed me to be a better player. 

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player? 

Bowling: Besides my dad, my Heavenly Father is the biggest impact on me as a ball player and a person.

PBR: What were your stats for this spring? 

Bowling: I hit .457 43 hits 27 RBI and made first team All-City D3 for Reading High School. 

PBR: Who is the best pitcher that you have ever faced? 

Bowling: The best pitcher I have faced was Chandler Day back in the summer during travel ball at Wright State.
