Nigel Williams, INF, LaSalle HS, Class of 2015

Why did you choose Lake Erie?

Williams: I chose Lake Erie because of the relationship I developed with the coaches and some of the players, the baseball program and the school seem like a good fit for me.

What other schools where you considering?

Williams:  Heidelberg and Mount union

Where did the coaches first see you? How did you relationship develop with their coaching staff?

Williams:  The coaches first saw me in the spring during my high school season and they also saw me play a little in the summer. At first the relationship was a little rocky because I didn’t know much about the program and they didn’t know much about me, but over time we developed a great relationship

What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Williams:  Early on they see me as a utility guy, someone who can play multiple positions on the field, but as the year goes on hopefully I will settle into one position wherever that may be. They also like my bat

What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Storm baseball?

Williams:  My biggest strength is my bat, I will contribute anyway I can but I know that I can drive in runs and move runners over to put the team in position to score runs and win games.

Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Williams:  I play for the Cincinnati Flames in the summer. The most memorable experience was playing in the Perfect Game tournament down in Georgia last year. It was fun to play against some of the best players and teams in the country.

Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Williams:  The toughest pitcher that I have faced in Ohio would be Shane Smith.
