Tyler Jones, RHP, Bellefontaine HS, Class of 2016

PBR: Why did you choose Dayton?

Jones: I chose Dayton because I felt it was the best fit for me. UD is great both academically and athletically and I really liked Coach Romick and Coach Vittorio. I could see myself fitting very well on campus and within the baseball program.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Jones: I had offers from Dayton, Xavier, and Indiana Wesleyan. I was also receiving interest from Cornell, Brown and Eastern Kentucky.

PBR: Where did the Dayton coaches first see you?

Jones: They first saw me at a showcase at SWOBAT and later at the 2014 and 2015 PBR Top Prospect Games. They continued to follow me throughout spring and summer ball.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable moment.

Jones: I play for the Lima Locos Express. Most memorable would just be how close I've become with my teammates and the friends I've made. We've had great times both on and off the field.

PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 program?

Jones: It's a dream come true. Baseball has been a huge part of my life and runs in the family. I'm blessed and thankful that all the time and effort has paid off.

PBR: What were your stats last spring season?

Jones: Last spring- 42 IP, 4 wins, 3 losses, 1 save. 50 K, 1.71 WHIP, 3.17 ERA.

Summer- 33 IP 1.04 ERA 27 K 1.248 WHIP

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Jones: Seth Gray from Springfield Shawnee, we've faced each other many times. He has great plate coverage and it’s hard to fool him.
