Alex Illitch, RHP, Hoban HS, Class of 2017

PBR: Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?

Illitch:  I chose Ohio Wesleyan because I really liked the campus, it offered the major I was interested in (Data analytics), and I really connected well with Coach Mott.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Illitch:  Denison, Holy Cross(Massachusetts), and Hillsdale.

PBR: Where did the coaches first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?

Illitch:  Coach Mott first saw me at the Brownlee Lookouts showcase. We stayed in touch, I took a visit, and later decided OWU was the place for me.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Illitch:  The coaches expect me to make an immediate impact on the mound and at the plate.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help OWU baseball?

Illitch:  I am a guy that can throw hard on the mound and hit the ball hard at the plate, so I believe this should help the team.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Illitch:  I play for the Brownlee Lookouts in the summer. My most memorable experience was going to a camp in New York where I pitched well and recorded my top velocity.

PBR: Now that recruiting process is over what are your individual and team goals for this spring?

Illitch: I worked hard this off-season on improving strength and velocity, so my main individual goal is just to relax and let the hard work show. Our team goal is to win our district and states.

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Illitch:  DJ Wilson, who was drafted by the Cubs in the 4th round.
