We would like to thank all who participated in PBR's Preseason Underclass North Showcase. This was a great opportunity for 2016, '17, and '18 prospects to be put on college radars. Many players impressed during their individual workouts at the showcase. Below we have the complete statistical results from the event as well as the top performers across various different categories. 

In the coming weeks, we will be adding and updating profiles for each of the players in attendance, including complete analysis and video.

Avery Baker, 3B/OF, Lancaster, 2018
Scouting Report: 6-foot-3, 185-pound solid frame. From the infield position he has a tendency to stop his feet when ground balls are hit at him, he can improve his footwork by being more aggressive playing through the baseball. He showed signs of unsure hands on this occasion. He uses a short arm action coming through a ¾ slot reaching a top velocity of 70 mph from the infield. In the outfield he does a good job of fielding the ball out front, off of his foot. He takes a more hesitant approach to ground balls and can improve his footwork by being more aggressive during his approach. He could increase velocity on his throws by incorporating proper crow hop mechanics. He throws using a shorter arm action coming through a high-¾ slot reaching a top velocity of 73 mph on his throws from the outfield. Right-handed hitter that starts open and gets to even. Flat swing that gets a little long at times. Registered top exit velocity of 81 mph off a tee and ran 7.78-60.

Cameron Karnik, RHP/3B, Amherst Steele, 2018
Scouting Report: 5-foot-8, 140-pound projectable frame. In the infield he shows good foot work as an athletic third-baseman might be better used at second base. Displays quicker release time using a clean arm action coming through a ¾ slot reaching a top velocity of 71 mph on his throws across the infield. From the outfield position he displays good foot work on ground balls transitioning into good crow hop mechanics. He throws using a clean arm action coming through a high-¾ slot reaching a top velocity of 72 mph from the outfield. Right-handed hitter that stays back well and shows a flat path with good rotation. Once he gets stronger his bat speed will improve. Registered top exit velocity of 74 mph and ran 7.87-60. On the mound the righty shows a good balance point and direction at foot strike. From over the top his fastball was 70-73 mph with some arm-side run and down angle. Showed a 12/6 breaking ball at 62-66 mph and slows down on his changeup at 60-62 mph.  

Davis Graham, OF/1B, Jackson, 2018
Scouting Report: 5-foot-10, 155-pound body frame. From the outfield he takes a more cautious approach to fielding ground balls. Could be more aggressive playing through the baseball and that will improve footwork transitioning into a crow hop. He uses a short arm action through a ¾ arm slot reaching a top velocity of 73 mph on his throws. Right-handed hitter that will be more successful if he gets his front foot down earlier and on time. Swing gets in and out of the zone with 75 mph exit velocity and ran 7.47-60.

Ian Ashby, RHP/1B, Lake Ridge Academy, 2018
Scouting Report: 5-foot-11, 175-pound average body frame. From the mound his delivery does not require much effort while using simple, repeatable mechanics with a straight up and down leg lift. Fills up the zone, showing good command of his pitches. He uses average arm speed coming through a ¾ slot. His fastball ranged between 72-74 mph. His curveball showed gradual break with 11/5 tilt at 66-68 mph. He threw his changeup using fastball arm speed that showed some sink between 68-70 mph. From the first-base he shows pretty good footwork around the bag and has the ability to move well laterally off the bag, he throws from a ¾ slot and reached a top velocity of 70 mph. Right-handed hitter that stand tall with a good load. Tendency to dip his back shoulder that produces an uphill swing and high finish. Registered top exit velocity off a tee at 78 mph and ran 8.14-60.

Jared Burick, OF/RHP, Tallmadge, 2018
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 145-pound projectable frame. From the outfield position he displays good footwork approaching ground balls transitioning into good crow hop mechanics. He has a clean arm action coming through a high-¾ slot reaching a top velocity of 78 mph on his throws. Right-handed hitter with a little leg kick to load and a lot of movement. Late getting his foot down with a flat path and 82 mph exit velocity. Ran 7.26-60. On the mound he shows a simple, compact delivery that he is able to repeat. Direction is good at foot strike and throws from a loose, high-¾ arm slot. His fastball ranges from 78-80 mph with arm-side run. Breaking ball with 11/5 tilt sits 66-68 mph with a solid changeup at 69-71 mph with good arm speed.

Justin Sands, OF/RHP, St. Ignatius, 2018
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 195-pound athletic frame. In the outfield he takes choppy steps on his approach to ground balls transition into his crow hop he shows good mechanics. He uses a slinging arm action coming from a ¾ slot reaching a top velocity of 71 mph on his throws. Right-handed hitter that starts slightly open. Has good rhythm with no stride and good rotation on his lower-½. Registered top exit velocity of 76 mph and ran 7.08-60.

Logan Wiggenhorn, RHP/SS, St. Edward, 2018
Scouting Report: 5-foot-10, 155-pound skinny, projectable frame. From the infield he does a good job fielding the baseball out front with this hands. Shows pretty good footwork playing through the baseball most of the time. Uses a clean arm action that produced a top velocity of 70 mph across the infield. Right-handed that starts open and gets to even. Tendency to dip back shoulder with an uphill swing and 74 mph exit velocity off a tee. Ran 8.09-60. On the mound the righty shows some effort in his delivery and lands closed at foot strike. From a long, loose, ¾ slot his fastball sits 73-74 mph. Showed two different kinds of breaking balls. Slows down on his curveball at 62-63 mph with 11/5 tilt. Also, threw a slider with tight spin at 65-66 mph. His changeup was at 69-70 mph with good arm speed.

Mason Copley, RHP, Aurora, 2018
Scouting Report: 6-foot-4, 210-pound projectable build. On the mound he shows good projection for his age and if he can improve on his command he should be a nice prospect. From long over the top arm action his fastball sits 79-81 mph with good down angle. His breaking ball shows occasional depth at 65-66 mph. Really throws a nice changeup at 70-73 mph with good arm speed and some sink.

Scouting Report: Young 5-foot-11, 145-pound thin frame with room to fill out. In the infield, he has a tendency to stop his feet when ground balls are hit at him and can benefit by being more aggressive playing through the baseball. He fields the ball mostly out front with his hands, throwing through a ¾ slot reaching a top velocity of 72 mph on his throws to first base. On the mound his delivery requires using just regular effort while using a straight up and down leg lift. He throws using a short arm action with average arm speed coming from an upper ¾ almost over the top arm slot. His fastball ranged between 69-71 mph. His breaking pitch is a slider showing tight breaking movement at 61-63 mph. Right-handed hitter that starts open and gets to even. Swing path gets in and out of the hitting zone with 74 mph exit velocity and ran 7.93-60.

Mike Merritt, C, Wooster, 2018
Scouting Report: 6-foot-1, 190-pound athletic build. From behind the plate he tends to open too early on his footwork. He winds up on his throw from a ¾ slot with good accuracy. Pop times ranged between 2.37-2.51 and 68 mph arm strength to second. Right-handed hitter that sits down in his legs with good balance. Short stride with a flat path, but tends to cut off his swing with no extension. Registered top exit velocity of 71 mph and ran 8.01-60.

Riley Fisher, 1B/RHP, Highland, 2018
Scouting Report: 6-foot-2, 200-pound body frame. From third base he shows pretty good footwork playing through the baseball most of the time. Threw using a clean arm action through a ¾ slot reaching a top velocity of 69 mph, had a little trouble with accuracy on his throws to first base on this occasion. Right-handed hitter that is a physical specimen for his age. Open stance with a leg kick to load and real power especially for his age. Registered an impressive 92 mph exit velocity off a tee and ran 7.77-60. On the mound he is a little raw. Simple, slow tempo delivery that is online at foot strike. From a real high-¾ slot his fastball 74-76 mph with some arm-side run. Breaking ball showed some depth at 65-68 mph and slows down on his changeup at 62-65 mph.

Ryan McCurry, OF/RHP, Solon, 2018
Scouting Report: 5-foot-9, 150-pound athletic frame. In the outfield he shows good footwork approaching ground balls, transitioning into a good crow hop. He throws using a clean arm action through a ¾ arm slot reaching a top velocity of 79 mph. Right-handed hitter with advanced skills for his age. Uses a leg kick to load and generate some power. Flat path and showed decent power for his age. Registered top exit velocity of 83 mph off a tee and ran 7.11-60.

Scott Seeker, OF/RHP, Tallmadge, 2018
Scouting Report: Big 6-foot-3, 200-pound body frame with thick, stronger lower half. In the outfield he tends to have a more hesitant approach with his actions approaching ground balls, showing good crow hop mechanics throwing with a clean arm action coming through a ¾ slot reaching a top velocity of 82 mph with good carry on his throws. On the mound his delivery requires regular effort. He throws with a short arm action using average arm speed coming through a ¾ slot. His fastball ranged between 77-80 mph. He threw his changeup below fastball arm speed at 58-61 mph. Left-handed hitter with a strong lower ½ and leg kick to load. Needs to get his foot down earlier and tends to dive in. Registered top exit velocity of 83 mph and ran 7.93-60.

Tyler York, 2B/SS, Newark Catholic, 2018
Scouting Report: 5-foot-10, 125-pound frame. From the infield he does a good job of fielding the ball out front with his hands. Shows pretty good footwork playing through the baseball most of the time. Uses a clean arm action through a ¾ slot reaching a top velocity of 70 mph on his throws. Right-handed hitter that start open and gets to even. Good load and an uphill swing with 76 mph exit velocity and ran 7.63-60.

Zachary Boyd, 3B/RHP, Tallmadge, 2018
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 170-pound athletic frame. Working out in the outfield defensively, he shows decent footwork approaching ground balls transitioning into his crow hop. Once he receives the baseball he does a good job of getting rid of it quickly. He throws using a clean arm action coming through an upper ¾ slot reaching a top velocity of 74 mph from the outfield. Left-handed hitter with a closed stance. No stride and throws his hand with a flat path and 72 mph exit velocity. Ran 7.57-60. On the mound the right-hander with good tempo and high leg kick which causes deception. Lands slightly closed which cuts himself off. Throws from a high-¾ slot with fastball sitting 73-75 mph topping out at 77 mph with arm-side run. Breaking ball had 11/5 tilt at 64-68 mph. Showcased good arm speed on his changeup at 67 mph.
