Fall Prospect Program Recap:

 Teams 1-4:

Teams 5-8:

TEAM 5 VS TEAM 7

TOP BATS

  • Ty Helmke- 2B, Johnstown Monroe, 2018- A put together prospect that stands out for his athleticism. Ran a 4.23 down the line in game. His bat flashes through the zone on a level path with well above average strength and bat speed. Had a multi hit day, drawing several walks and caused problems for the defense on the base paths.
  • Brad Henry, OF, Circleville, 2018- The righty creates solid energy into contact with his lower half and takes a level path to the ball. Has some definite quickness to his bat. Had three hits and multiple RBIs on the day.
  • Beau Foster, OF, Olentangy Liberty, 2018- The righty had a nice afternoon at the plate, recording three hits. Has a short, compact swing with above average bat speed. Showed power potential as he drove a ball deep over the center fielder’s head for a double.
  • Eric Edman, C, Westerville South, 2018- A big, physical prospect that consistently made hard contact throughout the day. Strong kid with a quick bat through the zone. Had three hits on the day and a few loud outs.

THE TOP ARMS

  • Carson Curnutte, RHP, Hilliard Davidson, 2018- Had a lights out performance, beating hitters with his fastball and showing impressive feel for his breaking ball. Fastball was up to 76 mph and curveball showed sharpness at 64-65 mph. Struck out four on the day and only allowed a few base runners.
  • Parker Brown, RHP, Mohawk 2018- Only threw an inning but was dominant. Brown has loose, clean arm action with above average arm speed. Blew his fastball by guys and spun a sharp, 11/5 breaker that hitters were unable to pick up. Struck out two of the three batters he faced.
  • Jack Mancini, LHP, Circleville, 2018- Continues to impress on the mound this Fall. The southpaw once again showed the ability to fill up the zone with all three of his pitches. Threw his changeup and breaking ball with confidence, while moving his fastball around the strike zone. Struck out five in his four innings of work.
  • David Hughes, OF/LHP, Olentangy Orange, 2020- A young prospect with a quick arm. The southpaw came in for one inning of work and struck out two batters. Command was a concern early but he settled in and ended up showing the ability to throw three pitches in the zone.

THE TOP DEFENDERS

  • David Silva Jr, SS, Otsego, 2019- Had the most impressive day in the infield we have seen this fall. Made all the routine plays and a few outstanding ones. Had full extension diving plays to his left and right, as well as an impressive play on a slow roller. Glove skills, footwork, lateral mobility are all well above average.
  • Keegan Nickoson, C, Ross, 2019- A young, talented catching prospect. Hips are flexible, allowing him to block with ease and steal the low strike. Receiving skills and arm strength are both impressive for his age. Recorded in game pop times of 2.08-2.16.
  • Blayne Robinson, 1B, Defiance, 2018- A physically impressive prospect that is unusual athletic for a player his age with a 6-foot-5 frame. All his tools at first base are advanced for his age. Showed the ability to pick the ball out of the dirt and make all the plays. Has a strong arm and with his athleticism the outfield could be an option moving forward as well.

TOP BATS

  • Justin Laley, OF, Twinsburg, 2019- The athletic outfielder had a big day at the plate. In the box he has an aggressive approach while remaining fluid. Consistently found the barrel in game play. Ball comes off his bat well. Recorded 4 hits on the day, including two doubles and multiple RBIs.
  • Drew Donaldson, 2B/SS, Hilliard Bradley, 2019- Drew is one of the smaller, if not the smallest guy on the field but he swings like a clean up hitter. The righty has such an efficient swing and gets all of the strength and bats peed he has to offer into the baseball. Recorded multiple hits on the day, drew two walks, and had a huge two out, two RBI single.
  • Thomas Jenkins, 1B/OF, Centerville HS, 2019- A definite left-handed bat to follow in the 2019 class. A physical prospect, that has advanced strength and bat speed for his age. Showed some swing and miss but when he found the barrel it jumped off his bat. Two of his three hits were the hardest hit balls of the afternoon. Also showed plate discipline by drawing multiple walks.
  • Keaton Stankowski, 3B, St. Charles, 2018- Finished up the day with three hits including a well driven double in the gap. The long-levered righty has solid strength through contact with above average bat speed. Looked to have a plan, showing the ability to be patient or aggressive.

THE TOP ARMS

  • Devan Middlemus, RHP, Lakewood, 2018- The right-hander is an above average athlete on the mound. The delivery is clean and has some liveness to his arm. Ran his fastball up to 80 mph and showed good feel for his 11/5 shaped breaking ball. Finished the day with 4 K’s.
  • Patrick Burke, LHP, Hilliard Darby, 2018- Pounded the zone with his fastball/curveball combination. Burke didn’t light up the radar gun, topping at 75 mph but with how effective his breaking ball was his fastball got on hitters quickly. Recorded 3 K’s in two innings of work.
  • Gabriel Spiers, LHP, Urbana, 2019- Was very impressive in his outing, keeping hitters off balance and striking out three. Kept his 68-72 mph fastball down and the zone and was able to spin in his breaker at any count.

THE TOP DEFENDERS

  • Louis Lipthratt, SS, Dublin Scioto, 2018- The rangy shortstop doesn’t have flashy actions but showed solid glove skills. Was able to remain athletic on the move and showed the ability to come in and get the slow roller. Made some difficult plays look routine.
  • Keith Oliver, C, Northland, 2018- An agile defender behind the plate that really impressed with his ability to block. Saved multiple runs and extra bases as he consistently got in front of balls in the dirt at him and to either direction. Receiving skills are there and he gets rid of the ball quickly to second base. Pop times ranged from 2.08-2.19 in game.
