Team 1 vs Team 2

Team 1 and Team 2 Split This Weekend’s Double Header

Top Offensive Performers

Tyler Barner, 1B, Licking Heights, 2017
Scouting Report: A big strong, right-handed hitter that had a HUGE game in the second game of the double header. Showed off his power potential by depositing a ball over the left field fence for a three run home run. Tyler finished the day a perfect at the plate, with five RBI, and a triple short of the cycle.

Clay Piatt, 3B, Granville, 2017 (shown below)
Scouting Report: After a relatively quiet Game 1, Piatt had a perfect day at the plate in Game 2. Recorded a hit in each of his three at bats. An athletic kid with a very quick bat through the zone. Clay also showed very impressive stuff off the mound. Would be a solid, late addition to a college roster.

Evan Knaus, C, Boardman, 2017
Scouting Report: The talented defensive catcher, also showed he can swing the bat as well. Gets the barrel in the zone early, giving him a large margin for error in timing. Has adequate strength and bat speed. Had three hits on the day, with a walk and hit by pitch.

Logan Garverick, OF, Dublin Scioto, 2017
Scouting Report:
A right-handed hitter that has fluidity to his loading sequence prior to getting the bat through the zone on a compact path. Showed the ability to lay off or attack pitches within his middle away approach. Recorded three hits on the day including a three RBI triple in game 2.

Top Performers On the Mound

Bradley Wolfe, RHP, Fairfield Union, 2017
Scouting Report: The 6-foot-1, athletically built had an impressive outing as he struck out three without allowing an earned run. Arm has definite quickness to it as he works through a high-¾ slot. He ran his fastball up to 84 mph and complemented it by a hard, tight 12/6 breaking ball. Also showed a knuckle ball with some dance to it. Has the tools to throw at the next level.

Blake Baldridge, LHP, Dublin Coffman, 2017
Scouting Report: The 6-foot-5, 178-pound southpaw did a nice job of keeping Team 2 off balance during his three innings of work. Doesn’t light up the radar gun but does a nice job of throwing all three of his pitches for strikes and working both sides of the plate. Didn’t give up an earned run and struck out two.

Austin Metz, RHP, Johnstown Monroe, 2017
Scouting Report: A strong, athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 165-pounds. The righty struck out five, while surrendering zero earned runs in his two innings of work. Metz has an array of pitches in his arsenal and showed decent feel for all of them. His fastball showed some run to it while topping out at 80 mph. His best off speed pitch was his 68-69 mph curveball that has late, sharp action. Also mixed in a changeup and knuckle ball.

Defensive Player of the Day

Adam Stotler, C, Bishop Watterson, 2017
Scouting Report: It would be hard to have a more impressive performance behind the plate than Stotler turned in on this day. Receiving skills are impressive with strength in his wrist and ability to get his thumb under the low pitch. Showed the ability to block pitches in either direction with ease. Threw out multiple runners in game play and had a top in game pop times of 1.96.

Team 3 vs Team 4

Little comes up Big With Walk Off Single to Give Team 3 the Sweep Over Team 4

Top Offensive Performers

Ryan Little, 1B, Springboro, 2017
Scouting Report: Not a huge day at the plate but he saved his best for last as he ended Game 2 in walk off fashion. With two outs and the bases load Little drove a line drive in the right-gap to give Team 3 the victory.

Nathan Bryan, OF, Gahanna Lincoln, 2018
Scouting Report: Has fluid movements to his loading sequence and an aggressive approach. Consistently found the barrel and the ball gets off his bat well. He missed the cycle on the day by a double. His line drive to the center field wall, that ended up as an inside the park home run was one of the most exciting moments of the day.

Carter Jones, 2B, Springboro, 2017
Scouting Report: Proved to be a tough out in the first game and reached base in all of his plate appearances in game two. Looks to have solid knowledge of the strike zone and a solid approach at the plate as he drew two walks on the day. A strong kid with a quick bat. Recorded a double and a triple on the day with multiple RBI.

Mitchell Perry, C, Norwalk, 2017
Scouting Report: Had a relatively quiet game one before breaking out in game two. A strong kid with above average bat speed. Gets his bat in the zone early allowing him to find the barrel on a regular basis. Recorded two hits in the second game and had three RBIs. Also drew two walks. Also very impressive with his abilities behind the plate.

Josh Brobst, OF, Bishop Watterson, 2018
Scouting Report: At the plate the righty has fluidity to his inward knee turn/toe tap load. An athletic looking prospect with solid bat speed through the zone. Consistently found the barrel throughout the day. His biggest moment was when he drove a ball deep to right field for an RBI triple. Had another hit on the day and made several load outs.

Gavin McGaughey, 1B, Kings, 2018 (shown below)
Scouting Report: The big right-handed swinger continued to impress with his abilities at the plate. Has some rhythm to his loading sequence, prior to firing the bat through the zone with outstanding bat speed. Has advanced strength through contact as the ball flies off his bat. Recorded three hits on the day and drew two walks.

Top Performers On the Mound

Jacob Roth, RHP, Norwalk, 2017
Scouting Report: The talented infielder also showed his abilities on the mound. The righty had a dominant performance as he struck out three without allowing a run in his two innings of work. An athletic presence on the mound the ran his fastball up to 76 mph and complemented it with a sharp, 11/5 shaped breaking ball.

George Lucas, RHP, Milford, 2017
Scouting Report: The starter in Game 1 for Team 3 had a strong performance. The righty threw three strong innings, striking out two and only allowing one run. He has an average tempo to his delivery while working through a high-¾ slot. Fastball had noticeable run to it at 74-77 mph. His 11/5 shaped breaking ball has some sharpness to it at 64-65 mph.

Noah Wagner, RHP, Turpin, 2018
Scouting Report: Team 3’s offense was rolling for the majority of Game 1, except when Wagner was on the mound. The right-hander did a nice job of keeping Team 3 off balance with his fastball/curveball combo. He recorded three strikeouts in his three innings of work without allowing an earned run.

Defensive Player of the Game

Nathan Kaffenberger, OF, Indian Lake, 2017
Scouting Report:
Nate stood out for his play in the outfield the entire day. Early on in game 1 he threw a rope from mid right field to get a runner trying to advance to third. Later on in the day he made a full extension, diving play down the left field line to save at least two runs. Throughout both games he showed good reads off the bat and took efficient routes to the ball.
