Ask questions to JD Heilmann, Ohio Scouting Director, about the recruiting process, upcoming high school season, specific prospects, PBR events, or anything else that may be on your mind.

We would like to thank all who participated, we enjoy bringing you knowledge and expertise on players and programs in your area.

Six of the top questions from the Ask.FM Q&A session on December 3rd

Where are kids being found more? During High School or Summer Baseball?

PBR: That's a great question. College recruiting coordinator spend endless hours and days recruiting so they are out all the time. It's tougher for colleges to recruit in the high school season because their season is going on as well. So trying to coach their team and recruit is tough. I would say players are seen more in the summer.

Do you see more verbal back-outs from players or coaches at D1 level?

PBR: With how early recruiting is getting these days you are finding more people decommitting from schools or the schools letting the player go. It's hard to say which one happens more but it is happening more and more.

Who are the best non-committed infielders in the 2016 class?

PBR: Best uncommitted infielders in the 2016 class in my opinion are Sam LaFontaine, Deylen Miley, and Antonio Bennett to name a few. A lot of good infielders still out there.

Best uncommitted 2016 outfielder?

PBR: Still a lot of good players still available in the 2016 class. In the OF Bryant Shellenbarger, Brandon Henson, and Kaleb Lepper are at the top of my uncommitted list.

Top position players/pitchers in 2017? Possible two-way players at D1 schools. Opinion obviously?

PBR: I really like this 2017 class. Top Position players in this class in my opinion are Jake Ruby and Luke Waddell. Top Pitchers for me are Tyler Brown, Andrew Abrahamowicz, and Michael Kirian. Possible two way guys would be Abrahamowicz, Nicholas Binnie, and possible Justyn Eichbaum. Real tough to be a two-way guy at the Division 1 level.

Which high school has the best class of 2017 right now?

PBR: Like I said before I really like the 2017 class. When it comes to high school it's hard not to mention New Riegel lefties Michael Kirian and Alex Theis. Also, Walsh Jesuit has a solid 2017 class with Jace Burke, Cade Pipoly, Brendan Regan, and Kasey Anzelc to name a few.
