Ohio Spotlight Game: #43 Amherst Steele vs Avon Lake

Avon Lake came up with a big road win defeating the #43 Amherst Steele Comets 1-0 on a 4-hit shutout by Holden Ohm.

The lone run came in the top of the second inning when junior second baseman Zac Sabol singled to left, advance to second on a walk, moved to third on a passed ball and eventually came home on a sacrifice fly to center field by third baseman Sean Tegeder.

After that run Amherst junior right hand pitcher Xavier Moore (Ohio State, pictured right) was dominant through the sixth inning when he was eventually pulled because of pitch count.

Avon Lake starter, right-hander Holden Ohm was equally impressive; he kept the Amherst line-up off balance with an effective slider, which he threw early and often.

Ohm finished the game with a 4-hitter while striking out seven with no walks. Moore threw six innings giving up three hits and three walks, while striking out seven.
