Ohio Spotlight Games: #37 Olmsted Falls vs #43 Grafton Midview

Two ranked, Division I opponents squared off in a big South West Conference game at Olmsted Falls High School. Visiting Midview (14-6, 12-4), would come come away with a closely contested 3-1 win and possession over first place in the conference over the Bulldogs (13-7, 9-6).

Both teams would send their ace pitchers to the mound and neither one would disappoint.

For Olmsted Falls it was junior left-handed pitcher Collin Romel (Kent State Commit) getting the start. Midview would counter with senior right-handed pitcher Dylan Brister (Cuyahoga Community College Commit).

Brister came out on top in the contest pitching a complete game. He went seven innings, allowed only three hits, walked one, hit a batter, struck out seven, and allowed only one run.

Romel took the tough loss in the matchup. He threw six strong innings, yielded five hits, walked four, struck out four, and allowed three runs (two earned).

The Midview Middies would strike first in the third inning. Senior third baseman Curtis Caithaml led the inning off with a single to left field, while junior designated hitter Sam Butler added an infield single. With two outs, runners at first and second moving on contact, Brister crushed a two RBI double to left center field that almost left the yard, helping his own cause.

Olmsted Falls would get their only run of the game in the bottom half of the fourth inning.

With one out, senior shortstop Aaron Zawadzki ripped a double to right center field. With two outs, senior third baseman Nathan Krogh then squared up the baseball, hitting a single to left field for a RBI.

The senior center fielder Gavin Taulbee from Midview would be the only player from both teams to register two hits in the game. Taulbee went 2-4 with two singles and two stolen bases on the day.
