LIMA, OH - Two talented teams from western Ohio met as No. 6 St. Henry (D-III) and No. 10 Lima Bath (D-II) squared off in Lima for a doubleheader. St. Henry (9-2) and talented junior Ryan Mikesell won game one 8-1 while Lima Bath (9-3) took game two 5-4 in eight innings.

In game one, Mikesell (6-foot-7, RHP, pictured right) facedRyan Mikesell vs Lima Bath off against Taren Sullivan which became a pitchers duel for five innings until the Redskins broke away late.

With the score tied at one in the fifth inning, sophomore Mitchel Stammen drew a lead-off walk, later scoring on an error on a sacrifice bunt attempt by junior Andrew Lundvall.

The Redskins added six runs in the sixth innings off of Lima Bath's bullpen. Senior Jason Jacobs drew a lead-off walk, advancing on another error on a sacrifice bunt, this bunt coming from junior D.J. Kunkler. Stammen drew his third walk of the game to load the bases.

An infield single by senior Brian Kremer and a walk by Lundvall brought to the plate Ohio Dominican commit Jeff Paul who cleared the bases with a three-run triple to right-center. Paul later scored on an RBI single from senior Briar Holloman to put the Redskins up 8-1.

The eight runs were easily enough for the Redskins lanky righty. Mikesell went the distance on the mound allowing one unearned run on just three hits and three walks while striking out 11 Wildcats. The righty is one to mark on your radar.

Bath's starter in game one, Sullivan, whose fastball sat 87-89 in his 1/3 inning on Thursday, seemed to not be able to find fastball today as his fastball sat just 79-84 on the mound as the righty relied on his curve for most of the first five innings. The University of Findlay recruit for basketball went five innings allowing two runs, one earned on four hits and five walks while striking out four.

In game two, Lima Bath came from behind to score two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth to defeat St. Henry 6-5, in eight innings.

With the Redskins up 4-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Lima Bath 's unsigned senior Colin Gossard roped a double to right-center, later scoring on an RBI single by Eric Jordan. Jordan advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Cam Clark. Senior Hunter Weis drove Jordan in on an RBI single to move the game to extras.

In the eighth, Sullivan blooped a single to right in his first at bat of the day. After a sacrifice bunt and HBP, Gossard came up to the plate and delivered a walk-off RBI single to left which scored Sullivan to give Lima Bath a 5-4 win in game two.
