PBR Spotlight Game: #19 Hudson vs #3 Walsh Jesuit

Hudson – Emotions were high in this Division I district semi-final game between #3 Walsh Jesuit and #19 Hudson. Playing in front of more than two thousand fans the Warriors fought back from a three run deficit to defeat the Explorers by the score of 4-3.

The game was a pitching duel for the first three innings. Senior right-hander Ryan Feltner – an Ohio State commit – took the mound for Walsh Jesuit. He held the Hudson offense in check for the first three innings – allowing no hits and striking out two.

For Hudson, junior right-hander Jackson Hickert (pictured below) toed the rubber and stymied the Warrior bats – allowing one hit and striking out three batters through the first three innings.

Hudson got on the scoreboard first – plating three runs in the fourth inning. The offense was sparked by a double from junior catcher Joe Charpentier and a triple from senior first baseman Travis Wood.

Hickert kept the Walsh Jesuit offense in check until the sixth inning. Back to back singles by two Ohio State commits – Azim Qadri and Dominic Canzone ended Hickerts day. He gave way to fellow junior right-hander Ian Swan.

The Warrior bats wasted no time getting to Swan as the next three batters all recorded hits. Bowling Green commit Blake Jenkins singled, Buffalo commit Connor Regan singled and unsigned senior outfielder Nick DeLeone delivered the big blow – a two run single putting the Warriors ahead for good.

Feltner would shut the Hudson offense down the final two innings – not allowing a hit and only allowing one Explorer batter to reach base. Feltner (pictured below) earned his team leading seventh win with the complete game effort.

With the win the Walsh Jesuit Warriors improved to 24-3 and return to action on Wednesday May 20th against the winner of #2 Wadsworth and #23 Brecksville-Broadview Heights. The loss ends the season for Hudson and they finish at 22-7.
