Worthington, OH – Thomas Worthington road the hitting and pitching coattails of Nick Pauley (Wright State commit) to a 3-0 victory over OCC foe Dublin Coffman.

The Shamrocks looked to score early when Tyler Jester and Carter Leffler led off the game with back to back singles.  But, Pauley was able to settle down and get the next three batters out.

Thomas Worthington would strike first when Pauley would lead off the bottom half of the second inning with a homerun over the left field wall off of pitcher Doug Isaly.  The Cardinals would tack on another run when Tommy Hoerauf would reach and on score a two Coffman errors.

After the second inning, both Pauley and Isaly silenced the bats with different methods.  Pauley overpowered hitters with an 86-88 mph fastball.  While, Isaly kept the Cards batters off balance working the outer half of the plate.

With the score remaining 2-0, Pauley would knocked in Keegan Lanter (Otterbein commit) with a single up middle in the bottom of the sixth.

Pauley once again pitched a scoreless seventh inning to end contest.  For the day, he threw seven innings giving up just three hits and nine strikeouts.  Offensively, he got the only two hits for the Cards with a solo shot and a RBI single.

Although the losing pitcher, Isaly had a fine day on the hill going all six innings allowing three runs (1 earned) on two hits with four strikeouts.

Dublin Coffman’s record falls to 4-6 on the season.

Thomas Worthington upped their record to 9-2 and looked to stay atop of the OCC standings.

Prep Baseball Report would like to give deepest thoughts and prayers to former Thomas Worthington Coach, Stephen Gussler and family.
