MACEDONIA – In a game between two Division I Suburban League foes, No.18 Wadsworth came way victorious over Nordonia 5-4 on a beautiful April day.

It was a game featuring two highly touted 2015 right handed pitchers squaring off against one another.  For Wadsworth, it was Nick Bebout and for Nordonia it was Brandon Talion.  Neither pitcher would disappoint!

Nordonia would strike first sending six batters to the plate in the bottom of inning number one.  Talion would help himself with a sacrifice fly scoring shortstop Logan Strauss who led the inning off with a sharp single to left field.  Despite three singles, Bebout was able to limit the damage to just one run.

Wadsworth would quickly answer back plating runs in both the second and third innings.  Kyle Pennington knocked home a run with a single in the second, while Aiden Campbell knocked in one of his own with a groundout in the third giving the Grizzlies a two to one lead.

The Knights top of the order would answer the call again, this time sending seven batters to the plate in the bottom of the third.  However, Bebout was again able to limit the damage, this time to just two runs.  Nick Nolan hit a deep double to left center scoring Strauss, and Kevin Chonko would later knock Nolan in with a single.

The Grizzly offense would score two runs in the top of the fourth inning thanks to a Riley Campbell RBI groundout and a defensive miscue by the Knights.  Bebout would then hold the Knights offense in check striking out nine of the final 16 batters he faced.  Bebout finished with 12 strike outs and just two walks.

Bebout’s counterpart in this game, Brandon Talion, was just as impressive.  The Wadsworth offense found it equally difficult to get anything going – getting only 5 hits – all singles.  Talion finished the game with nine strike outs and four walks.

Costly errors by the Knights defense proved to be the difference in this contest.

Cameron Deemer, an impressive 2016 RHP/SS, worked a scoreless seventh inning to secure his second save on the year.

Wadsworth remains undefeated and improves to 7-0 on the season.  The Grizzlies travel to Wooster on Saturday April 19th to take on Wooster and Mount Vernon.  Nordonia fell to 3-6 on the year and would need to quickly refocus as they traveled to Lakewood for a nightcap on Friday; and then following that up with games against Stow and Hoban on Saturday.
