Preseason Preview: Strongsville HS

Strongsville High School’s spring preparations have been anything but typical. Immersed in a teachers’ union strike, the Mustang players have found their season disrupted by issues out of their control.

With the season on the horizon, there is no doubting that Coach Sorge and his players would like the strike resolved sooner than later so there focus can turn back to the ball diamond.

After compiling a 17-4 record in 2012 with a 9-1 conference finish, Strongsville has reloaded for the 2013 season. The Mustangs lost several key players to graduation such as Forrest Perron (UC recruit), Austin Pritchard (UC recruit), Aaron Caputo (Ohio Wesleyan recruit), Kory Hall (Lee recruit), Connor Ryan (Marietta recruit), Kyle Toma (Mercyhurst recruit) and Brennan Singleton.

Class of 2013

  • RHP/OF, Austin Previt – The Lake Erie recruit has a fastball that gets into the upper 80’s and shows the athleticism to contribute in several different ways for the Mustangs.
  • OF, Brad Wiemken – The left-handed hitting centerfielder will anchor the outfield.
  • IF, Ben Szymczak – The right-handed hitting infielder will return to the starting lineup.
  • RHP, Carlton Reinhart
  • C, Brendan Lange - The talented receiver will likely replace Aaron Caputo behind the plate.
