Q and A with 2015 Grace Commit: Hunter Ackerman (Mansfield Madison HS)

PBR: Why did you choose Grace?

Ackerman: I wanted to be at a place that challenged me on three levels, academically, spiritually, and athletically

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Ackerman:  Mt Vernon Nazarene, Indiana Wesleyan and Olivet Nazarene. 

PBR:  Where did the coaches first see you compete and how did your relationship develop with the rest of the coaching staff?

Ackerman: I went to their camp last fall, and they wanted me to commit then, and I have been in contact with coach Barr for a year now.

PBR: What role does the coaching staff expect you to play during your first year on campus?

Ackerman:  Coach Barr said I would have the opportunity to come in and contribute to their team and outfield right away.

PBR:  What are you individual and team goals for this spring?

Ackerman: To repeat as conference champs, and make a nice tournament run. 

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Ackerman: I have had some great coaches, coach Rickert and Harris my High School coach and summer ball coaches and coach Kegler and coach Giddings, but the biggest impact would be my dad.  

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience playing summer ball?

Ackerman: I play for the Columbus Sharks and the Ohio Elite. The most exciting experience was playing the MidWest Redbirds this fall and coming out on top.

PBR: What were your stats last season?

Ackerman: I hit .442 with 10 doubles, 17 walks 16 stolen bases and scored 33 runs.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced in Ohio?

Ackerman: Adam Schaly from Ashland.
