Q and A with 2015 Indianapolis Commit: Kyle Orloff (Elder HS)

Kyle Orloff, SS, Elder HS, Class of 2015

PBR: Why did you choose Indianapolis?

Orloff: When I went on my visit to the University of Indianapolis I felt very comfortable with the Coach. Also, everything they have to offer as a student-athlete was intriguing to me such as all of their athletic facilities. My relationship has grown with the coaches and that has made a big impact on my decision.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Orloff: University of Evansville

PBR: Where did the coaches first see you?  How did your relationship
develop with them?

Orloff: They first saw me at the PBR Top Prospect games held at Prasco. Ever since then, they have been in contact with me and I have become more comfortable with them which has helped me.

PBR: Was distance from home a factor in your decision?

Orloff: It played some part in my decision. Indianapolis is nice because it's a little bit away from home but not too far. I like this because it allows my family to be able to come to more games since it is only about an hour and half away from home.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Orloff: The coaches expect me to come in as a freshmen and compete for a job in the infield.

PBR: You have participated in numerous PBR events.  How has PBR helped you
with the recruiting process?

Orloff: PBR has helped me because the events have allowed many scouts to lay eyes on me and evaluate me as a baseball player.

PBR:  Who do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable
experience?

Orloff: I played for the Cincinnati Flames this past summer and my most memorable experience was playing in the Perfect Game tournament in Georgia.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Orloff: There have been multiple people that have made a big impact on me as a baseball player and my baseball career. My father was the first person to teach me the game of baseball. He instilled in me the love I have for the game today. My High School Coach Mark Thompson has helped me for most of my life also. When I was younger I went to the Elder Baseball Camps and ever since then I have been learning the game from Coach Thompson. My freshmen baseball Coach Rex Currin has also provided enormous amounts of guidance and assistance ever since I started high school. He hasn't stopped coaching me since I played with him as a freshman. He has taught me different ways and techniques to approach the game of baseball.

PBR: What were your stats this spring season at Elder?

Orloff: 25 games, 79 At Bats, 19 runs, 34 hits, 7 doubles, 1 triple, 1 homerun, 13 rbi's,  3 stolen bases, .489 on base percentage, .430 batting average

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Orloff: Zach Logue
