Q and A with 2015 Sinclair Commit: Paul Collins (Goshen HS)

Paul Collins, OF, Goshen HS, Class of 2015

PBR: Why did you choose Sinclair?

Collins: I know the program is really strong. And is good with sending their players to 4 year schools. I feel like it'd be a great fit for me to develop even further and really sharpen my skills.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Collins: Mostly MAC schools. I verbally committed so there's still a chance another route could come up depending on if it's a good path to take. My strongest interest in the MAC is OU and Wright State.

PBR: Sinclair is known for sending many of their players to 4 year colleges.  How much of a role did that play in your decision to go to Sinclair?

Collins: It played a major role.

PBR: Where did the Coach Dintaman first see you?

Collins: I'm not really sure. I know he has seen me here and there and I'm pretty sure he saw me last summer when I was at midland.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable moment.

Collins: I play for the 18u Midwest Prospects. I just came onto the team about 2 weeks ago and absolutely love the team already. My most memorable moment was this past week in the CABA World Series in South Carolina. We made a great run to the semis with only 12 players.

PBR: Sinclair CC plays at a beautiful facility in Grady’s Field.  How much of a role did distance play in your decision?

Collins: It's very convenient that it's less than an hour from home.

PBR:  What were you stats this spring at Goshen?

Collins: I hit around .450 until the last few weeks of the season. I ended up hitting around .390 I believe. Led in RBI and home runs. Not to my satisfaction but it was a good run with the team.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Collins: there's quite a few. I would have to say Chandler Day. For as young as he is and gifted he is really great. I grounded out against him so I was alright with making contact against him so early in the season. I believe without a doubt he'll be in the show one day.
