Prep Baseball Report

Q and A with 2015 Toledo Commit: Parker Ruffer (Stryker HS)

Parker Ruffer, RHP, Stryker HS, Class of 2015

PBR: Why did you choose Toledo?

Ruffer: It was the best fix for me to grow as a pitcher and to get better, and compete day in and day out

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Ruffer: I had contact with Akron and Ball State

PBR: Where did the Coach Mee first see you? How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?

Ruffer: They saw me at the North West Ohio open ID PBR event. They made it very easy for me to communicate with them and the show up to mast of my games and as a
player it feels good to know that they are there for you.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Ruffer: Just to come in and compete and battle every day,  Work hard and throw strikes and just get better as a pitcher and as a baseball player.

PBR: The Toledo campus is very close to home.  How much of a role did that play in your final decision?

Ruffer: It is an added bonus it was in my mind and I had to do what was best for me to be able to live an hour away is a great situation for me.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that  you will help Rocket baseball?

Ruffer: I feel like I am a leader and can come in and do that even as a freshman and just build a relationship with all of the players.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Ruffer: I play for the Lima Express. I really enjoyed it all but playing down in Columbus against some of the best players in the region.

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team for the rest of your senior season?

Ruffer: I would love to be able to have my team get to the Regional level and then try to get another League title for Stryker. Individually if we win I am reaching my Individual goals but I would love to be an all-state player.

PBR: What were your stats for last spring season at Stryker?

Ruffer: 313 B.A. 2.09 ERA 92 Ks

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Ruffer: I would say either Brock Theil or Jordan Bostater they both get the bat on
the ball all the time they are really a tough out.
