The 11th annual Super 60 Pro Showcase is less than two weeks away. And once again, the event’s roster is loaded with the top draft-eligible prospects within the Prep Baseball Report’s eight-state coverage area.

This year’s event is set for Sunday, Feb. 3 at the Max-McCook’s 125,000 square-foot open turf facility in McCook, IL. The event will begin at 9 a.m. with position players.

In the rich history of this event, there have been many indelible performances. But last year’s overall showing may have been the best ever, as 24 of the 29 pitchers sat 88-plus, while 19 of the 39 position players ran sub-7 60s, to name a few highlights.

Although it will be a tough task, this year’s assemblage of prospects very well may surpass last year’s output. The 2013 class is top-heavy with pitchers, and this year’s roster reflects it.

No. 2-ranked prospect, LHP Hunter Green (Warren East HS, KY; Kentucky recruit) headlines the pitchers, along with No. 5-ranked LHP Eric Lauer (Midview HS, OH; Kent State), No. 7 RHP Cory Wilder (Lima Shawnee HS, OH; North Carolina State), No. 8 LHP Josh Rogers (New Albany HS, IN; Louisville), No. 12 RHP Zac Ryan (Andrean HS, IN; Georgia Tech), No. 13 RHP Andy Honiotes (Geneva HS, IL; Miami), No. 21 LHP Nick Deeg (Lake Orion HS, MI; Central Michigan), No. 22 LHP Danny Ayers (Columbus North HS, IN; Western Michigan), No. 23 LHP Andrew Harrington (Central Hardin HS, KY; Louisville), No. 30 RHP Robert Zeigler (Defiance HS, OH; Kentucky), No. 34 Keith Lehmann (Lyons Township HS, IL; Michigan), No. 40 TJ Zeuch (Mason HS, OH, Pitt), No. 49 RHP Zach Brown (Seymour HS, IN; Kentucky), No. 54 Zach Burdi (Downers Grove South HS, IL; Iowa), and No. 60 RHP Andrew McDonald (Mason HS, OH; Virginia Tech), to name a few.

No. 6-ranked SS/RHP Connor Heady (North Oldham HS, KY; Kentucky), who’s one of the premier shortstop prospects in the country, heads the infielders. Other top infielders include: No. 17 SS Josh Van Meter (Norwell HS, IN; Illinois State), No. 41 1B Drew Bridges (Carthage HS, MO; Missouri State), No. 43 SS Nick Kanavas (Brookfield East HS, WI; Arizona); No. 46 1B Shane Dressler (Red Land HS, PA; VCU), No. 62 SS Shaun Corso (Hempfield HS, PA; West Virginia), No. 63 Clark Eagan (Appleton North HS, WI; Arkansas), No. 74 3B Ricardo Ramirez (De La Salle HS, IL; Illinois-Chicago), No. 77 1B/C Anthony Drago (Lake Zurich HS, IL; Illinois), and No. 85 1B/RHP Jextin Pugh (Bishop Guilfoyle HS, PA; Binghampton), No. 87 1B Nick Kowalczuk (Oak Park-River Forest HS, IL; Michigan), and more.

Top-level athletes headline the crop of outfielders, led by No. 18 Alex Krupa (Greenwood HS, IN; Indiana), No. 20 Nolan Rogers (Bloomington South HS, IN; Vanderbilt); No. 27 Jordan Getzelman (Prairie Ridge HS, IL; Missouri), No. 29 Corey Ray (Simeon HS, IL; Louisville), No. 37 Lex Kaplan (Ladue HS, MO; Miami), No. 45 Troy Montgomery (Mount Vernon HS, IN; Ohio State), No. 52 Anthony Ray (St. Rita HS, IL; John A. Logan JC), No. 59 Colin Lyman (Huntley HS, IL; Louisville), and No. 75 Jake Ring (Grant HS, IL; Missouri), and more.

Last year, left-handed hitting catcher Chad Johnson (Galesburg HS, IL) emerged at the Super 60 and was drafted (and signed) in the fifth round by the Royals. This year’s catching crop isn’t especially deep, but it has several high-level prospects. The top catchers at this year’s Super 60 include: No. 35 Brent Gibbs (Alton HS, IL; Indiana), No. 42 Ryan Lidge (Barrington HS, IL; Notre Dame), No. 55 Isaac Crafton (Jeffersonville HS, IN; Liberty), No. 58 Cassidy Brown (Walsh Jesuit HS, OH; Loyola Marymount), No. 61 Chuckie Robinson (Danville HS, IL; Southern Mississippi), No. 65 Tanner Murphy (Malden HS, MO; Southern Illinois), and No. 84 Dan Jansen (Appleton West HS, WI; Jacksonville).

While the Super 60 is reserved predominately for draft-eligible seniors, a select few juniors are also invited. Last year, No. 1-ranked prospect Trey Ball (New Castle HS, IN; Texas) stole the show, as the 6-foot-6 two-way standout began his ascent to a high first-round draft pick come this June.

The Class of 2014 is especially loaded with talent. The top juniors at this year’s event include: No. 2 RHP Alex Lange (Lee’s Summit West HS, MO; LSU), No. 5 Johah Patten (Norwell HS, IN; Arkansas), No. 9 Jake Godfey (Providence Catholic HS, IL; Notre Dame), and No. 10 Storm Rynard (Raymore-Peculiar HS, MO; Arkansas).
