The Top Infielders from the Northeast Ohio Open ID Showcase

Austin Previt

Austin Previt (2013/Strongsville)
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound prospect shows versatility with the ability to play multiple positions in the outfield and infield (as well as pitch). He has a solid, athletic build. He uses an over the top arm slot and easy, loose arm action to generate a velocity of 79 mph across the infield (and, 82 mph from the outfield). At the plate, he starts with a slightly closed stance along with high hands. He displays a slight uphill bat path that generates consistent, powerful line drives.

Ben Szymczak (2013/Strongsville)
The 6-foot, 150-pound prospect has a lean, athletic build with room to fill out. In the field, he displayed advanced footwork and soft hands. He likely projects as a third baseman or second baseman at the next level. He uses an over the top arm slot to generate a velocity of 73 mph across the infield. At the plate, the left-handed hitter displayed a closed stance at setup. He uses an explosive lower half to consistently hit line drives to all fields.

Colin Parcher (2012/Napoleon)

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound prospect is a solid, well-built prospect. He worked out at both corner spots, but likely projects as a first baseman at the next level. He starts with a close, balance stance. He projects as a middle of the order bat at the next level. Within a week after participating at this event, Parcher committed to Ohio Dominican University.

Best of the Rest

Andrew Hohman (2013/New Riegel)
The 5-foot-8, 145-pound prospect uses short arm action to generate a velocity of 67 mph. At the plate, the right-handed hitter uses a slightly open stance with average bat speed. He will be aided by continued physical growth and maturation.

Andrew Reed (2013/Walsh Jesuit)
The 5-foot-7, 160-pound prospect uses short arm action to generate a velocity of 66 mph. At the plate, the right-handed line drive hitter displays rotational mechanics. He does not use a stride and shows a short bat path and compact swing.

Ben Schloss (2013/Brush)
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound prospect projects as a third baseman at the next level. With his size and natural strength, he is a follow in the Class of 2013. He display an over the top arm slot and easy arm action to generate a velocity of 79 mph across the infield. At the plate, he uses a wide base. He shows power potential, but lacks lower half rotation. If he is able to put the pieces together, he will only improve as a hitter and position himself well as a college prospect.

Billy Smith (2013/Nordonia)
The 5-foot-6, 175-pound prospect projects as a second baseman at the next level. He uses a low ¾ arm action while generating a velocity of 69 mph. At the plate, he starts with an open stance with high hands. He uses a strong lower half to create surprising power for his size.

Corbon Angermier (2013/NDCL)
The 6-foot-4, 197-pound prospect has a tall, soft build. He uses an over the top arm slot with long arm action to generate a velocity of 73 mph. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts with a slightly open stance. He uses a choppy rhythm and downward plane bat path.

Cory Teachout (2013/Medina)
The 5-foot-11, 160-pound prospect uses a high ¾ arm slot with smooth arm action to generate a velocity of 75 mph. At the next level, he likely projects as a middle infielder. The right-handed hitter uses a small leg lift and displays pull power.

Griffon Angermier (2014/NDCL)
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect is a lanky, soft prospect. He generates a velocity of 71 mph in the field. At the plate, the right-handed hitter uses an open stance. He is a slappy hitter that will develop additional power as he physically matures.

Jake Nicholson (2013/Rocky River)
The 5-foot-7, 145-pound prospect uses over the top arm action to generate a velocity of 68 mph. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts with a close stance and displays a short/compact swing with good pop.

Joseph Sadwoski (2013/North Royalton)
The 6-foot, 160-pound prospect projects as a pitcher at the next level, but shows the ability to play first base. In the field, the left-handed thrower shows a high ¾ arm slot with long and easy arm action that generates a velocity of 72 mph. At the plate, the left-handed corner infielder uses a short stride, with an easy, short load.

Joseph Swisher (2013/Westerville Central)
The 5-foot-6, 145-pound prospect has a small, but athletic build. While fielding, he consistently attacks and moves through the ball. He uses quick, short arm action to generate a velocity of 74 mph across the infield. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts slightly open with a wide base, but displays the tendencies of a contact hitter, who can drive the ball to all fields.

Nathan Ballinger (2012/Jackson)
The 6-foot, 160-pound prospect uses a high ¾ arm slot that generates a velocity of 72 mph. At the plate, the right-handed hitter uses a narrow, slightly open stance. His hands have a tendency to drop, which create an upward bat path towards contact.

Nick Piotrowski (2013/Nordonia)
The 5-foot-11, 165-pound prospect uses an over the top arm slot to generate a velocity of 72 mph. At the plate, he starts with a slightly closed set up with high hands. He shows a choppy rhythm in his swing.

Sean Conner (2012/Barberton)
The 6-foot, 205-pound prospect has a thick, muscular build. In the field, he displays a velocity of 70 mph. At the plate, the right-handed hitter shows flashes of pull power with his strong lower-half.

TraVon Bowman (2012/Bexley)
The 5-foot-11, 209-pound prospect has a thick, athletic build. At the next level, he projects as a corner infielder. He shows soft hands in the field and generates a velocity of 67 mph across the infield. At the plate, he uses a balanced setup along with a small stride. He uses a strong lower half and short, easy load as he displays pull tendencies.

Tyler Cetnarowski (2012/Akron SVSM)
The 6-foot-4, 175-pound prospect has a tall, athletic build. In the field, he projects as a first baseman (he also worked out as a catcher). Tyler Weeks (2012/Padua Franciscan)
The 6-foot-1, 160-pound prospect uses a ¾ arm slot to generate a velocity of 65 mph across the infield. At the plate, the left-handed hitter starts with his hands away from his body. He will improve as a hitter by cutting down his long, slow developing swing as well as incorporating more torque from his lower body.

Zachary Browning (2012/Cuyahoga Heights)
The 6-foot, 175-pound prospect is a smooth, sure-handed fielder that consistently plays through the baseball. He uses a high ¾ arm slot to generate a velocity of 76 mph across the infield. At the next level, he likely projects as a middle infielder. The right-handed hitter starts with a slightly open stance. He displays a choppy rhythm and downward plane on his bat path. He will only improve at the plate as he cleans up some mechanical issues.
