OKLAHOMA DAILY ROUNDUP

May 6th

BINGER-Oney (A-#2) vs TUSHKA (A-#1)-3-2 State Tournament @ Bricktown Ballpark
Ranked No. 1 and 2 for most of the season, it is not a surprise that the Class A State Championship came down to a bang-bang play at the dish in the bottom of the 7th. Takota Frank hit a single just out of reach of the second baseman going up the middle, but the Bobcat centerfielder was playing in perfect position, shifted far to right and in, came up with the ball quickly and delivered a one hopper to the plat which Oklahoma State commit Cody Milligan had to grab a swipe quickly to just get the tying runner at the dish to end the game.  Oklahoma commit Ledgend Smith went the distance of the mound, only allowing 2 runs to the solid Tushka offence.  Eastern Oklahoma State College commit Zach Dill and Cole Broughton combine for an impressive pitching performance on of their own, but it wasn’t enough.  Milligan lead the way offensively for Binger-Oney with an RBI single and a double.

LEEDEY (B-#2) vs RED OAK (B-#1) 3-2  - State Tournament @ Bricktown Ballpark
Unquestionably the best two Class B teams in the state met in the State Championship, with very little separating them.  Red Oak was inches away twice for completing the comeback. In the bottom of the 7th, Eastern Oklahoma State commit Cody Muncy smashed an RBI double of the top of the center field fence that very nearly left the yard. Then on the last out of the game, Leedey center fielder makes an terrific over the shoulder catch running straight away to the center field fence. Colton Hunter went six strong innings on the mound for Leedey, allowing two runs on eight hits, two walks and striking out three.  Eastern Oklahoma State commit Morgan Crenshaw feel just short in a valiant complete game effort for Red Oak, surrendering three runs (two earned) on nine hits, two walks, and striking out nine.
