PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The ninth PBR Oklahoma Player Of The Week goes to Binger-Oney LHP/OF Ledgend Smith. An Oklahoma signee, Smith was a huge part of a Class A State Championship for the Bobcats last week on both sides of the ball. On the mound, the left-hander earned two wins, pitching 10.1 innings in two starts, going the distance in the state championship game. In total, Smith allowed just two earned runs on two hits and four walks, and struck out 12.  Offensively, Smith batted .714 (5-for-7) with a double, a triple, three runs scored, six RBI’s, four walks, and a stolen base.  Smith is currently ranked No. 20 in Oklahoma’s 2017 Class.

(6A) Jarret Martinez, an uncommitted senior RHP for Midwest City, went out with a truly memorable last start for the Bombers. The 5-foot-8, 150-pound right-hander went an impressive 9.2 innings on 132 pitches, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits to earn the regional win.

(5A) T.J. Mullins, a Grayson commit and 1B/LHP for Carl Albert, helped the Titans glide to the state tournament from the mound and at the dish. Offensively, Mullins batted .769 (10-for-13) with a double, six RBI’s, and six runs scored. With the ball in his hand, the left-hander tossed 4.2 without giving up an earned run and punched out six, earning the win. Mullins is currently ranked No. 55 in Oklahoma’s 2017 Class.

 (4A) Carson Orton, an uncommitted junior RHP/1B for Heritage Hall, was again dominant on the mound last week. Orton struck out 9 hitters in 4.1 innings of regional finals work to move to 7-0 on the year. Orton has also lead the charge offensively for Heritage Hall all year. Orton is currently ranked No. 11 in Oklahoma’s 2018 Class.

(3A) Foster Roy, a Richmond signee and OF/LHP for Metro Christian, posted an absolutely dominant performance on the mound last week. Roy tossed a complete game one hitter while striking out 17 in the regional final to send the Patriots to state. Roy is currently ranked No. 35 in Oklahoma’s 2017 Class.

 (2A) Brock Rodden, a sophomore SS for Oktaha, put up good offensive numbers and helped the top ranked Tigers roll through regional play. The switch hitter batter .455 with a double, six runs scored, seven RBI’s, and a walk. Rodden is currently ranked No. 22 in Oklahoma’s 2019 Class.

(B) Christopher Goldston, an uncommitted junior 3B for Leedey, put up put big numbers at the plate and on the mound, leading his team to a Class B State Championship. The right-handed hitter batted .545 (6-for-11) in three state tournament games with two doubles, four runs scored, an RBI, and a walk. On the mound, Goldston tossed a complete game allowing just one run on three hits, two walks, and struck out 11.

Honorable Mentions

Brayden Alberson, an uncommitted senior RHP/SS for Yukon, made an impact with the bat in three regional wins last week. The right-handed hitter batted .556 with two doubles, two runs scored, and an RBI.  Alberson is currently ranked No. 161 in Oklahoma’s 2017 Class.

Brady Brim, an Oklahoma Wesleyan signee and OF for Claremore, was clutch last week in regional play, pushing the Zebras into the state tournament. Brim was 4-for-11 on the week, but it’s when his hits came that land him on this list. Piling up 5 RBI’s on just four hits, Brim’s biggest swing came with two outs and two strikes in the bottom of the seventh of the regional final in the form of a walk-off home run.    

Nathan Chase, and uncommitted LHP for Claremore, had another outstanding outing this week. Chase tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits.

Ty Decker, an uncommitted junior middle infielder for Coweta, was yet another Tiger with a hot bat in regional play. The 6-foot, 150-pound right-handed hitter batted .667 with four doubles, three RBI’s and six runs scored without striking out.

Dylan Kuester, a Carl Albert State College Commit and RHP/OF for Coweta, came up huge in relief for the Tigers in regional play last week. Kuester entered the regional finals with runner at second and third in the first inning with no outs and down two runs already. He escaped by striking out the first batter, inducing a ground ball, then popping up the first batter he faced to end the innings. He scattered four hits of the next six innings, striking out five more and walking no one to earn the win 10-2 and send his team to state. Kuester is currently ranked No. 124 in Oklahoma’s 2017 Class.    

Carter LaValley, a sophomore SS for Carl Albert, had a solid offensive week. The young talent batted .677 (6-for-9) with a double, triple, eight runs scored, and three RBI’s.  LaValley is currently ranked No. 13 in Oklahoma’s 2019 Class.

Landon Le, a Redlands commit and OF/LHP for Union City, was solid at the plate in two games of the state tournament. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound athlete batted .571 (4-for-7) with a double and a go ahead home run in the bottom of the sixth in the quarterfinals.

Mason Lowe, an uncommitted junior 2B/OF for Mustang, was unconscious at the plate. Lowe batted .750 (6-for-8) with three RBI’s

Payton Miller, an Oklahoma commit and C/RHP for Yukon, put up power numbers last week. Miller batted .545 (6-for-11) with four doubles, four RBI’s, and drew four walks. Miller is currently ranked No. 5 in Oklahoma’s 2019 Class.

Cody Milligan, an Oklahoma State commit and C/RHP for Binger-Oney, helped to lead his team to a Class A State Championship last week. Offensively, Milligan batted .667 (6-for-9) with two doubles, two home runs, five runs scored, eight RBI’s, two walks, and a stolen base. On the mound, the right-hander threw a five inning complete game shutout, allowing just two hits, three walks, and struck out 11. Milligan is currently ranked No. 14 in Oklahoma’s 2017 Class.

Brady Papke, an unsigned senior for Metro Christian, was hot at the dish in the regional tournament. Papke hit .625 (5-for-8) with three doubles and two walks.

Chance Parker, a Carl Albert State College commit and 3B for Hartshorne, helped to lead his team to the state tournament with a offensive outburst in four games. The 5-foot-11, 195-pouind athlete batted .643 (9-for-14) with two doubles, a triple, 10 runs scored, and two stolen bases.

Connor Pasby, an uncommitted senior SS for Chisholm, came up big  at the plate in regionals to help send his team to state. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound athlete batted .583 (7-for-12) with two doubles, two triples, four RBI’s and six runs scored.

Joey Pena, a NOC Tonkawa commit and C/3B for Mustang, stayed hot at the dish this week and helped send the Broncos to the state tournament. Pena batted .667 (6-for-9) with four RBI’s. Pena is currently ranked No. 109 in Oklahoma's 2017 Class. 

Dylan Reeves, an NOC Enid commit and RHP/OF for Carl Albert, did damage on both sides of the ball last week. Reeves batted .625 (5-for-8) with a double and six RBI’s. On the mound, he earned a win striking out four and not allowing a hit in three innings of work to earn the win. Reeves is currently ranked No. 118 in Oklahoma’s 2017 Class.

Branson Sheofee, an uncommitted senior utility player for Coweta, put up solid numbers at the dish last week. The 6-foot- 175-pound athlete batted .778 with three doubles, six RBI’s and four runs scored without striking out once.

Reid Stockman, a sophomore SS for Coweta, was outstanding with the bat and the glove in regional play. The right-handed hitter batted .700 with a double, three RBI’s, and five runs scored without punching out. Stockman was perfect in the field successfully completing all 12 chances.

Ryan Summers, a Hutchinson CC commit and RHP for Coweta, was nearly untouchable on the mound last week. Summers tossed a one hit shutout in the opening round of the regional tournament surrendering just two walks and punching out 12.  Summers is currently ranked No. 82 in Oklahoma’s 2017 Class.

Eric Taylor Jr., an NOC Enid commit and 1B/RHP for Midwest City, gave a tremendous effort at the dish and on the mound last week. Offensively, the 6-foot-4, 215-pound hitter batted .667 with two doubles, two RBI’s, and earned four free passes, including an intentional pass with the game on the line. On the mound, the right-hander earned a 10^th inning save and closed anther. Taylor is currently ranked No. 53 in Oklahoma’s 2017 Class.

Dakota Ward, a sophomore RHP for Yukon, was nails on the mound for the Millers as he helped them to a state tournament berth. Ward tosses eight total innings, including a seven inning complete game effort on 68 pitches, giving up two earned runs on eight hits, struck out five, and didn’t surrender a walk.

Brayden Wimmer, an uncommitted sophomore INF for Yukon, swung a hot bat for the Millers last week in regional play, helping to lead them to the state tournament. The right-handed hitter batted .615 (8-for-13) with a double, four runs scored, and three RBI’s.  Wimmer is currently ranked No. 47 in Oklahoma’s 2019 Class.

Trey Wolf, an uncommitted junior RHP for Broken Arrow, was again solid on the mound for the Tigers in regional play last week. The right-hander tossed a complete game, allowing just one run on five hits, two walks, and striking out nine against a very capable Union team. Wolf moves to 8-1 on the year with a 2.1 ERA.
