PBR: Why did you choose Crowder College?reilly

Reilly: I chose Crowder because they have a great program there and I feel like they would give me a great opportunity to play and possibly move on after school. I have been interested in Crowder since the first time my team went there three years ago and, I thought it would be a great fit for me.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Reilly: Although I’ve been interested in Crowder for some time now, I was also considering Grayson and North Central Texas.

PBR: Where did Crowder College first see you? How did your relationship develop with Coach Lallemand?

Reilly: Coach Lallemand first saw me when my summer team took our fall trip down that way three years ago, and showed interest in me back then. Although I wasn’t able to make to fall trip last year because of my surgery, I came back strong and coach Lallemand still showed high interest and confidence in me by offering me a spot on the same day we were there. Knowing that he has been interested in having me play for him for a few years now showed me that that’s the kind of coach I want to play for, not just someone who can throw money at me to play for him.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Reilly: My first year on campus I think the coaches expect me to be a good student in the classroom, and a catcher that performs in game situations that can contribute to the team winning games.

PBR: What summer team do you play on and how has travel baseball helped your development as a player?

Reilly: I play for the Field House Pirates and travel baseball has helped me develop an incredible amount. By travelling down south for tournaments and our fall trips, it made me step up my level of play to be able to compete against the southern teams. It showed me that if I want to play down there one day, I would have to train and work hard to fit in with those kids who have an advantage of playing 8-10 months of the year outside on the field.

PBR: What was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Reilly: My most memorable experience from this past summer would have to be winning the East Tennessee University tournament.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Reilly: As a ball player, the person who has impacted/inspired me the most would be Buster Posey, drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 2008 in the first round. He is a great defensive player with an absolute cannon behind the plate, and he is a threat every time he steps up to the batters box.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ontario?

Reilly: Matt Warkentin on the Great Lake Canadians.

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ontario?

Reilly: I haven’t pitched enough in Ontario to answer this question. The toughest hitters I have faced were at Cameron University in Oklahoma.
