Ontario Insider: Class of 2019 Player Rankings (August)

Jaden BrownThe first edition of the Class of 2019 rankings have been released in advance of fall ball season here in Ontario as the summer is slowly coming to a close. We have seen a lot of 2019 grads this year, and intend on seeing much more as they begin their process of preparing for the next level.

Coming in at No.1 is infielder and a very athletic, 6-foot-1, 165-pound Jaden Brown (pictured right). The bat speed and explosiveness in his swing is advanced for a kid his age. He ran a 6.94 at the PBR Future Games earlier this month and is a very toolsy player that has a chance to be special.

Next in line at No.2 is the first pitcher off the board in left-hander Justin Bradt. Bradt has some physicality to him at 6-foot, 180-pounds and works with a presence on the mound. He shows a good, downhill plane and his breaking is advanced for his age with biting action. Tyrell Schofield-SamThe others in the top 5 are speedy shortstop Robert Calisti, a left-handed bat with quick twitch actions, third baseman Tyrell Schofield (pictured right), another left-handed bat with power to go along with a strong arm from the left side of the infield. Coming in at No.5 is the first catcher off the board in Ryan Leitch. He is advanced in his swing, and able to drive the ball in the gaps with power to all fields.

Finishing off the top ten are two outfielders in Dasan Brown and Joel McKnight who come in at six and seven respectfully. Both are athletic players with speed and quick hands at the plate, followed by two-way player Tom Edwards-Gireau who has physicality and arm strength from the mound and third base. The No.9 and No.10 spots in our first top 20 edition of the 2019 rankings are two more lefty’s in the likes of Keegan Pullford-Thorpe and Nicholas Fraser. Fraser is the more polished of the two with his three pitch arsenal while Thorpe is projectable on the mound with his clean actions, while also a solid bat and glove to go along with being a top tier hockey player in the winter months.

Evan ElliottFour out of the next five rankings are all right-handed arms, led by big Hayden Pilmer out of Windsor who is the definition of country strong at 6-foot-2, 200-pounds. Following Pilmer are right-handers Stephen Kinal, Evan Elliott (pictured right), and Jake Rogers. All have shown glimpses of bright futures this summer and will be guys to lock in on over the fall and leading into spring 2017.

We will continue to add to our top 20 heading into the fall, for now click here to see the full 2019 rankings in Ontario.
