Team Ontario Future Games Spotlight: Liam Hicks, C

On July 30th through August 1st, PBR Ontario will take a select team of players in the Classes of 2017 and 2018 to represent Ontario at the PBR Future Games in Indianapolis at Grand Park.

Players receive exposure unlike any other event for underclassmen. Last year, 100+ colleges from all over the country were in attendance, including coaches from every Division I power conference in the country. Only players who have a legitimate shot at being a Division I recruit and who have an interest in the possibility of making a verbal commitment during their sophomore or junior seasons have been considered.

Scouting Report: Smooth, left-handed swing with chance to hit for power when he matures physically. Shows bat speed and good balance, can get out-front at times in game actions. Hands work well to ball and hits to all fields, exit velocity 84 mph. Defensive actions improved behind the plate, shows proper actions in lower half, can relax hands and become more quiet at times when receiving. Arm was clocked at 73 mph while his best pop time was 2.06. Fits the profile as left-handed hitting catcher. Chance to be solid player at next level.

Date: 10/26/14
Scouting Report: 5-foot-10, 155-pound durable frame with room to add strength. Defensively, fields ball cleanly out front, under control. Arm works from ¾ slot, was 76 mph across the diamond. Projects as left-handed hitting third baseman, possibly second base if he works on lower half. At the plate has tall, upright stance. Quiet load, loose, quick hands through the ball, head stays quiet with some bat speed through the zone. Ball jumps off bat with smooth, easy swing. Exit velocity was 86 mph, good looking hitter in the class of 2017.

Athletic awards or academic accolades that you have received (All-State teams, Preseason all-state teams, league honors, honor roll, etc): All-Tournament Catcher at the NABF World Series in Knoxville, Tennessee, NABF World Series Runner-Up, TDSB Regional Champion

2015 Statistics: "I don't have my exact statistics from 2015, but I know I lead my team in RBI's and BB."

What other sports do you play, describe (positions, years varsity, achievements, stats): "I've played competitive hockey for 10 years, and high school basketball in my freshman and sophomore years."

GPA/ACT/SAT: 3.7 GPA
