The Ontario Big Board: Top Uncommitted Class of 2015 Left-Handed Pitchers

Throughout the month we look to highlight some of the top uncommitted talent. Below we would like to showcase six talented left-handed pitching prospects.

Top Uncommitted 2015 Left-Handed Pitchers


Isaac Anesty, Ontario Blue Jays

Anesty stands 6-foot-2, 190-pounds. Athletic body that will continue to get stronger. Does a good job of getting over rubber, arm works with some life, fastball has been up to 91 mph. Throws from ¾ arm slot, curveball shows good rotation when he gets extended with it. Good depth, throws some hammers, strike out potential while sitting 70-72. Changeup is third best pitch, maintains arm speed, shows feel. Ability to repeat mechanics and arm slot key for Anesty.

Jack Caswell, Brampton Royals

6-foot-3, 180-pounds. Caswell has long, lean pitcher's body with lots of projectability from the left side. Fastball has touched 83 mph as Caswell sits in the low 80s with a high-¾ arm slot. Curveball has nice 1/7 shape with some downward action. Changeup had good arm speed and sat 70-73. With strength gains velocity will increase, strike thrower.

Nathan Egert, Toronto Mets

At 5-foot-9, 140-pounds, Egert is an athletic pitcher who fills up the strike zone with command of three pitches. His fastball isn’t overpowering, sitting in the mid-to-high 70s, Egert works the bottom of the strike zone with good downhill action. Curveball has proper rotation with big break. Changeup has deception with some arm side fade.

Andrew Raponi, Toronto Mets

6-foot-2, 180-pounds, Raponi is a projectable lefty that has seen his fastball up to 83 mph. Arm is clean from a ¾ slot. Curveball is best pitch. Shows good feel for it with proper rotation. Changeup is becoming better with reps, when on time has arm side fade down in the zone, sits 68-72. At times, arm will drag and  can get get on side of the ball. Still somewhat raw mechanically, potential and upside is there. Some minor adjustments and Raponi could be a very intriguing pitcher.

Dallas Taylor, Fieldhouse Pirates

5-foot-10, 160-pounds, room to add strength and size. Clean, easy mechanics with proper arm action. Fastball is 80-83 with more in the tank. Curveball is best pitch, good rotation with some late bite to it. Has feel for changeup, keeps arm speed and finishes well. Fills up the strike zone with idea of how to pitch. Polished lefty with good mechanics. Getting looks from Murray State, Grayson CC, and Crowder College.

Matt Warkentin, Great Lake Canadians

Big 6-foot-3, 185-pound lefty with very projectable body. Over the head delivery with slow tempo to balance point. Good separation over the rubber with ability to work downhill. Arm is clean from a ¾ arm slot. Fastball sits 81-84 with room to add velocity. With size, able to get on top of hitters with some late life. Curveball shows good rotation with feel. A lot to like, can also swing it from the right-side with some pop.
