Quebec (3) vs Ontario Black (2)

Starting on the mound for Ontario Black was 2015 RHP Nathan Arruda from the Ontario Blue Jays. Arruda topped out at 86 with his fastball, thrown from a low ¾ arm slot, mostly sitting 82-84. The curveball was Arruda’s best pitch, throwing it at any time in the count, and using it to induce six strikeouts. Arruda’s curveball has 11/5 action and he is able to keep down in the zone. Arruda went four innings, giving up three runs and striking out six.

2015 RHP Drew Reilly came into pitch the final two frames for Ontario Black. Reilly sat 86-87 mph with his fastball while popping a few 88’s and 89’s. He showed arm strength while maintaining his velocity over his two innings of work. Reilly also threw a slider between 70-73 that had some tilt to it with occasional late bite, producing several swings and misses.

At the plate, Eric Senior and Josh Naylor continued to carry the offensive load for Black as each had a double with Naylor driving in both runs and stealing his second bag of the week. Senior was 1-2 with a run and a walk while continuing to play a solid right-field. Both players have continued to make solid contact, and have been a big part of Ontario Black’s success.
