PBR Pennsylvania Adds Frank Cooney to Scouting Staff

Frank CarterPrep Baseball Report Pennsylvania would like to announce the addition of Frank Cooney to its staff of scouts. Cooney will begin immediately as an area scout, writer and evaluator for PBR.

Cooney is currently serving as an associate area scout for the Toronto Blue Jays. He has been in his current position with the Blue Jays since 2010. Additionally he served as the hitting coach for the Geneva Red Wings of the NYCBL from 2010-2012. The NYCBL is one of the premier summer collegiate leagues in the country and has hundreds of alums in Major League organizations. During his time with the Red Wings Cooney was fortunate enough to coach Jon Leroux (New York Mets organization), Ryan Fennell (Cincinnati Reds organization) and Jake Chaplin (Los Angeles Dodgers organization).

Cooney is also currently serving as co-head coach of the Chester County Crawdads (17U). The Crawdads won the Triple Crown national championship in Richmond, VA last summer.

Prior to moving to Pennsylvania, Cooney coached in Auburn, MA. During his tenure in Massachusetts he worked with Tim Collins, a relief pitcher for the Kansas City Royals as well as Tyler Beede, the 21st overall pick in the 2011 MLB draft. Beede is currently the ace of the Vanderbilt staff and is a projected 1st round pick in the 2014 MLB draft.
