Daily Roundup: April 12 Games

Luca FarinaWeather was the biggest story of the day with nearly the entire slate of games across the state being wiped out by weather. Following is the extremely abbreviated roundup of action statewide from April 12.

#12 Pittsburgh Central Catholic 13,  #21 Plum 7

  • The #12 Vikings scored in every inning but the 5th, tallied 12 hits, and hit for power with three doubles, a triple and a home run to defeat #21 Plum. It was a good day for future Pitt Panthers as Pitt recruit P.J. Demeo (2013) went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple, and Pitt commit Luca Farina (2014) went 3-for-5 for the Vikings. M.P. Buckley drove in three runs and Alex Baretta had a double, a home run and two RBI. Junior Nick Stotler was 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in a losing cause for Plum.

#13 Liberty 6,  Freedom 0

  • Liberty got a complete game, three-hit shutout from Eddie Albertson and a 3-for-4 performance from leadoff hitter Ryan Santoro. Jake Tone and Josh Nales did the heavy lifting in the middle of the lineup driving in two runs each.

Easton 4, Bethlehem Catholic 3

  • Junior RHP Matt Semanick came on to get the final two outs and preserve the win for the Easton Rovers. 1B Joe Spadoni (2014) went 2-for-2 with an RBI for a balanced Easton offense. Seven different Rovers had at least one hit with junior Luis Hernandez' triple sending the Easton home with a walk-off win in the 7th.

RitchieLaurel 7  Ellwood City 1

  • George Washington University recruit Brandon Ritchie pitched a complete game seven hitter with eight strikeouts. He allowed one run and walked three batters. Leadoff hitter Ray Scala led a 17 hit attack, going 5-for-5 with a double and a run scored.

Baldwin 11, McKeesport 1

  • RHP Alex Pantuso (2014) tossed a complete game two-hitter with eight strikeouts for Baldwin. Catcher Tony Martinez led an eight hit attack going 2-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI. Zach Craven (2014) was 1-for-1 with a double and the only McKeesport RBI.

Manheim Central 13, Columbia 4

  • Junior Colin Fry had a huge day going 4-for-5 with two doubles, four runs scored and four RBI to lead a 12-hit attack. OF Ben Bomberger (2014) went 1-for-2 with three walks and four runs scored.

Additional pa news:
