By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

The 2015 Eastern PA College Prospect Showcase took place on July 1, at War Memorial Field on the campus of Ephrata High School. Our rundown of the participants begins today with the seven middle infielders in attendance.

Middle Infielders:  Class of 2016

Matt Kline, MIF/3B, Greencastle-Antrim

6-foot, 200-pound right-handed hitter starts slightly open and uses a weight shift stride with a strong lower half to create a bat exit velocity of 87 mph. Kline keeps head still with lower half movement and ball jumps off bat head. Plays low to ground and shows a quick release defensively. Kline displayed an 82 mph arm across the diamond and ran a 7.26 60-yard dash. His physical size will likely slot him at 3B at the next level.

Hunter Reeser, MIF/3B, Governor Mifflin

5-foot-11, 180-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and uses a leg lift stride to initiate his swing. Reeser displayed solid rhythm to his swing and an 83 mph bat exit velocity with some gap power potential. The uncommitted senior-to-be showed a very soft glove hand defensively and the ability to make throws from multiple arm angles. Reeser's feet work well and his 83 mph arm strength plays on the left side of the infield. He completed his day by running a 7.49 60-yard dash.

Middle Infielders:  Class of 2017

Shane Walker, OF/MIF, Downingtown West

6-foot-1, 185-pound primary outfielder displayed a 70 mph arm across the diamond from a low 3/4 arm slot. Right-handed batter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a short lift and replace stride to initiate his swing. Uses a line drive approach with much of the work done with his hands with a bat exit velocity of 70 mph. Walker ran a 7.20 60-yard dash to complete his day.

Middle Infielders:  Class of 2018/2019

Tyler Arnold, MIF/RHP/OF, William Tennent, 2019

5-foot-10, 140-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a short lift and replace stride to initiate his swing. A drop of his hands to the launch point causes barrel drag through the hitting zone with a bat exit velocity of 75 mph. Showcased a 7.98 60-yard dash and 69 mph arm strength across the diamond. Continued development is likely with physical maturation and strength gains.

John Deenis, MIF/RHP, St. Joseph's Prep, 2019

5-foot-9, 135-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance with a heel raise stride. Deenis glides to the baseball while initiating his hands blocking lower half rotation. Deenis showcased a 7.66 60-yard dash, a 72 mph bat exit velocity and a 70 mph arm across the diamond. The incoming freshman flashed a soft glove hand, a quick release and the ability to make throws from multiple arm angles.

Alec Leese, MIF, Central York, 2018

5-foot-1, 125-pound switch-hitter showed similar swing mechanics from both sides of the plate with a 77 mph bat exit velocity. Starts from a square stance with a toe tap load. Left handed swing exhibits some barrel drag while a more solid feel for the barrel comes as a right-handed hitter. Leese showcased a 7.62 60-yard dash and a 67 mph arm across the diamond. Displayed capable actions defensively with a skill set best suited for second base.

Kyle Rhoads, MIF/OF/RHP, Cocalico, 2019

5-foot-9, 140-pounder showed well in all facets of the game. The right-handed hitter barreled the baseball routinely from a square stance with a short lift and replace stride. A short swing path creates a bat exit velocity of 76 mph. Rhoads showcased a 7.65 60-yard dash and a 78 mph arm across the diamond. The incoming freshman displayed capable defensive actions with the ability to play through the baseball.
