Eastern PA College Prospect Showcase Anaylsis: Unsigned Seniors

By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

Of the 38 prospects that participated in the Eastern PA College Prospect Showcase, just two were from the Class of 2014. Based on the quality performances turned in by both, multiple schools are likely to show interest in the very near future.

Pacheco had the top all-around performance of the day. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound two-way prospect showcased the top outfield arm (87 mph) and infield arm (84 mph) at the event. Pacheco displayed a soft glove hand, good range and the ability to play the baseball on the move from his middle infield position. The right-handed hitter showed quick hands out of a slightly open stance and barreled the baseball routinely. With additional work on the lower half of his swing he should see an improvement in his 75 mph bat exit velocity. Pacheco completed his day by sitting 81-83 from a high 3/4 arm slot during his bullpen session. He also flashed a 67 mph curveball with tight rotation and a 72 mph changeup with some arm side run and late sink.

Sean WilliamsonC Sean Williamson (Pope John Paul II HS)

Williamson has shown steady progress over the past two years. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound backstop showcased pop times of 2.03-2.10 on throws of 74 mph from the crouch. He showed sound receiving and blocking skills and ran a respectable 7.47 60-yard dash in cold conditions. Williamson displayed an 81 mph bat exit velocity and the potential for some gap power. He hits from a slightly open stance with a high hands load. Williamson barreled the baseball routinely and showed the ability to use all fields.
