Fall Program - Week One Corner Infield Analysis

The 2nd Annual Fall College Prospect Program began September 7 at Seton Hill University. The fall format involves two nine inning games and a showcase at each of three stops over the course of the month of September. Today we continue our analysis of the prospects in attendance during Week One of the program by taking a look at the corner infielders in attendance.

Eric Loucks2015 C/3B Eric Loucks (Hempfield Area)

Loucks has displayed his abilities behind the plate at past events but for the first time worked out as a primary 3B. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound uncommitted senior made an outstanding diving, backhand play and showcased his 78 mph arm strength across the diamond in game action. Loucks continued to show some pop during his round of batting practice from a slightly open right-handed stance with a toe tap stride. The two-way prospect has displayed 2.02-2.08 pop times and a top bat exit velocity of 82 mph at previous events.

2015 1B/OF Jake Stemmerich (Greater Latrobe)

Stemmerich displayed a lift and replace stride from a square stance with a bat exit velocity of 82 mph. The 6-foot, 230-pound, left-handed hitter showcased quick hands and the ability to square the baseball to all fields consistently during his round of batting practice. Stemmerich moves well around the bag at 1B and displayed an accurate 72 mph arm across the diamond as well as a 75 mph arm from the outfield.

2015 3B Luke Ferlin (Ligonier Valley)

Ferlin is a 5-foot-10, 185-pound right-handed hitter that showed a leg lift stride out of a square stance with a bat exit velocity of 79 mph. The senior ran a 7.76 60-yard dash and showed a 67 mph arm across the diamond from 3B. Ferlin went 0-for-3 in game action but did barrel the baseball in two of his at bats.

2016 1B/OF Noah Hansen (Kiski Area)

Hansen displayed a flat bat path and an ability to consistently barrel the baseball from a square stance. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound junior displayed an 82 mph bat exit velocity and went 1-for-6 at the plate while squaring the baseball in several other at bats on the day. Hansen showcased capable glove work and an accurate 75 mph arm across the diamond.
