Game Recap: Boyertown at Perkiomen Valley

Boyertown 12, perkiomen valley 0

A scoreless game through more than three innings quickly turned into a one sided affair as Boyertown plated 12 runs in their final two at bats to win going away.

Perkiomen Valley starter sophomore right-hander Tyler Strechay cruised through the first three innings facing just two batters over the minimum with two strikeouts. Following a leadoff single in the 4th inning by Tyler Kreitz, Strechay appeared to be out of the inning following a fly out and a ground out. Eight batters later the inning ended with Boyertown plating seven unearned runs with two outs.

After playing flawless defense in a tidy 2-0 win over Spring-Ford last week the Vikings committed three errors in the 4th inning alone. Adding to the seven run rally were two infield hits and a hit batter. Kreitz (3-for-4, 4 RBI) capped the scoring with a two-run triple after scoring the inning's first run.

The seven runs were more than enough for Boyertown senior right-hander Pat Hohlfeld, a Philadelphia University recruit, who went the distance allowing two runs on three hits while striking out two. Pat Maloney (2-for-2, BB) and Quinn Mason (2-for-2) also had multi-hit games for the Bears (5-4).
