Game Recap: Camp Hill at Northern York

By Greg Williams
Pennsylvania Director of Scouting

Northern York 3, Camp Hill 2

Camp Hill starting pitcher Jack Dunphy led off the game with a single and advanced to second when the ball was misplayed in the outfield. A ground ball moved Dunphy to third and the senior scampered home on a passed ball to give the Lions an early 1-0 lead.

Northern wasted little time answering back as Trent Culver lined a single to right and stole second base to begin the bottom of the 1st inning. Following a sacrifice bunt senior shortstop Kenny McKeever hit a sacrifice fly to score Culver knotting the game at one.

Camp Hill got a one out RBI single from third baseman Noah Resuta in the top of the 3rd inning to regain the lead and Dunphy (6 IP, 5H, 1 ER, 2 K, 3 BB) settled in to post zeros on the board through the middle innings.

Culver, who scored all three Polar Bear runs on the evening, led off the 5th inning by drawing a walk advanced to third base on an errant pick off attempt and continued home when the subsequent throw across the diamond eluded the third baseman.

Northern starter Scott Leitholf (CG, 5 H, 1 ER, 4 K, 1 BB) did his part keeping Camp Hill off the scoreboard after the 3rd inning. With the game tied 2-2 heading to the bottom of the 7th inning Culver once again ignited the Polar Bears offense. The Junior blooped a single into left field to start the inning, advanced to second when Louis Pfeiffer was hit by a pitch, and raced home with the winning run on a walkoff single by center fielder Curtis Robison.

Dunphy (2-3, 2B, R) was the lone Lion to have multiple hits in the game. The Polar Bears were led offensively by Culver (2-3, BB, SB, 3 R), Robison (1-2, RBI, 2 BB, 3 SB), Alex Lilja (2-3, SB) and Jared Sutch (1-2, 3B, BB).
