No. 3 Brendan McKAY

Brendan McKayLouisville thought it had the perfect recruit when McKay signed his NLI: a 6-foot-1 southpaw with a legit breaking ball and plus command whose mid-80s fastball would not attract the attention of pro scouts.  When McKay's velo jumped up into the 87-90 range last spring, however, radar guns began popping up en masse behind the plate at his starts.  Luckily for the Cardinals, McKay slid out of the top ten (bonus pool) rounds and ended up on campus with the opportunity to make an immediate impact.

McKay spent the spring of his senior season flirting with a national record that had stood for decades. The lefty registered 71 2/3 scoreless innings of baseball during his impressive streak, placing himself in the national record books with the 3rd longest streak in the history of high school baseball.

McKay was ultimately drafted in the 34th round of the 2014 MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres.
