Pennsylvania Players Have Continued Success at WWBA 17U National Championships



Pennsylvania players continued to have success on Saturday at the 2012 17U WWBA National Championships. Tournament play continues today and updates will be posted daily through the end of the tournament.

Isaac Taylor (West Chester), Class of 2013, pitched five innings for the All Star Baseball Academy to help them win 12-7 over El Sueno. Taylor gave up no earned runs and struck out seven batters. His fastball ranged from 82-86 and peaked at 87 mph.

Adam Bleday (Titusville), the No. 6 ranked player in the PBR Pennsylvania Class of 2013, went 2-for-3 with a double to lead the Indiana Prospects to a 7-7 tie with the Alabama Seminoles 17U.

Jextin Pugh (Bishop Guilfoyle), the No. 3 ranked player in the PBR Pennsylvania Class of 2013, threw 1.1 innings in relief in a 5-4 Flood City Elite loss to the Orlando Baseball Academy 2013. Pugh topped out at 87mph in his relief stint on the mound.

The Philadelphia Whiz Kids beat the East Cobb Patriots 17U 4-1. The Whiz Kids were led by Prescott Bliss (Owen J. Roberts), the No. 44 ranked player in the PBR Pennsylvania Class of 2013, as he blasted a three-run home run in the bottom of the 5th inning to give them the lead. Austin DiBonaventure (Plymouth Whitemarsh), Class of 2013, also went 2-for-3 with a double at the plate.


The Evoshield Canes M-A 2013's defeated the Arlington A's 6-0. The Canes were led by Stephen Sada (Saegertown), the No. 16 ranked player in the PBR Pennsylvania Class of 2013, who went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI, two runs scored and one stolen base. Camden Hess (Hempfield), the No. 31 ranked player in the PBR Pennsylvania Class of 2013, pitched six innings and gave up just two hits.

Earlier in the day the Canes had an offensive explosion pounding out 16 hits and scoring 17 runs in their victory over the L.E.A.D. Ambassadors. Brandon Kinnemnan (West York), Class of 2013, went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored. Max Ponzurick (Greensburg Salem), the No. 7 ranked player in the PBR Pennsylvania Class of 2014, was 2-for-4 with a Grand Slam, a double, four RBI and one run scored. Ronnie Baron (California), Class of 2014, was 3-for-3 with a Home Run, 3 RBI and two runs scored. Keyshawn D'Orso (Allderdice), Class of 2013, was 1-for-2 with a Home Run, 3 RBI and two runs scored.

AJ Bogucki (Boyertown), the No. 1 ranked player in the PBR Pennsylvania Class of 2013, was also impressive yesterday as he pitched five strong innings for the Mid-Atlantic Rookies. He did not allow an earned run and struck out seven batters. His fastball ranged from 85-89 and peaked at 90 mph.
