Pennsylvania Players of the Week

The regular season is in full swing and teams are battling for playoff positions. Today we take a look at the top position player performances in the state over the past week. This feature will run on Thursdays for the remainder of the high school season and will include four players recognized for their performance over the past week. Players will be recognized by geographic location and will be voted on by the PBR staff of scouts.

Independent Schools Player of the Week: Naquan Holden, Perkiomen School, Class of 2015

  • Holden went 8-for-14 for the week with eight runs scored and seven RBI. The sophomore OF also walked twice, was hit by a pitch twice and stole seven bases. Holden is hitting .471 for the season.

Eastern PA Player of the Week: Chris Morris, Harriton HS, Class of 2013

  • Chris Morris is a 5-foot-8, 165-pound 2B that led Harriton to a 3-0 week with his red hot bat. The senior infielder was 7-for-9 on the week, with three walks, four doubles, one triple and 11 RBI. His week was highlighted by a seven RBI performance in a Central League match-up against Springfield.

Central PA Player of the Week: Tony Strasiser, North Star HS, Class of 2013

  • The senior went 6-for-6 in the Boswell Area Jaycees Tournament over the weekend, earning MVP honors. Strasiser had a clutch two-run double in the seventh in the championship game to earn the title. The senior hit a triple, a double and scored three times. On Thursday, Strasiser had a four-hit game, including a triple in an 11-1 win over Conemaugh Township.  

Western PA Player of the Week: Shane Churma, Penn Trafford HS, Class of 2015

  • Churma is a 5-foot-9, 170-pound 2B/OF that has been selected as a member of Team Pennsylvania for this summer's Prep Baseball Report Midwest Future Games. For the season Churma is hitting .477 with four doubles a home run and 11 RBI.
