Preseason Preview: William Allen HS (District 11)

By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

The 2012 season ended in a 4-15 overall record and 4-11 Lehigh Valley Conference mark for the William Allen baseball team. This year the Canaries will be led by a new Head Coach, Rob Leskosky. Only one returning starter and one returning pitcher with varsity experience return. That is the recipe for disaster, but Leskosky feels like his guys are young and hungry with something to prove. Together, they will attempt to take the program to a higher level. Following are players Leskosky feels will have an impact on the team's success in 2013.

Class of 2013

  • RHP/OF Brady Yocum - a 6-foot-1, 175-pound returning letter-winner and the only returning pitcher from last year's roster. Yocum will provide much needed leadership to an inexperienced team.
  • RHP/C Leo Mendez - a 5-foot-11, 190-pound returning letter-winner will need to take charge of the team from behind the plate and provide pitching depth.

Class of 2014

  • RHP/INF Felix Martinez - a 6-foot, 170-pound switch-hitter who is versatile and can play a number of positions.
  • 1B Tajae Botz - 6-foot, 205-pound athlete who is just beginning to blossom.

Class of 2015

  • SS/RHP Justin Kratz - a 5-foot-11, 165-pound sophomore who will be a starting infielder and should see plenty of innings on the mound.
