Preseason Preview: Nazareth HS (District 11)

By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

The Nazareth Blue Eagles are the defending Lehigh Valley Conference Champions and District 11 Champions. That's the good news. The bad news is that the Blue Eagles only return three starters from last year's roster and one pitcher with significant varsity experience. Coach Bryan Wolf will look to a host of players to fill the void left by graduation. Following is a look at members of the 2013 Blue Eagles roster who are likely to contribute this season and beyond.

Class of 2013

  • OF Anthony Gaetaniello, 5-foot-10, 170-pounds - solid player who hit .293 in 2012.
  • RHP Dan Horvath, 6-foot-1, 180-pounds - went 4-1 with a 0.82 ERA in 2012. Horvath will be asked to lead a very inexperienced Blue Eagles pitching staff.
  • OF Tyler Pastor, 5-foot-4, 165-pounds - hard nosed player who loves to play the game.

Class of 2014

  • 1B Pat Laudenbach, 5-foot-11, 180-pounds - smooth swinging left-handed hitter who is excellent defensively at 1B.
  • C Brett Hallman,5-foot-11, 175-pounds - strong defensive backstop with a quick release.
  • 2B Jake Suarez, 5-foot-8, 160-pounds - solid middle infielder with quick hands.

Class of 2015

  • RHP Brett Kline, 6-foot-1, 170-pounds - great command of the strike zone. Kline will be looked to to supply innings for a young pitching staff.
  • RHP Nick Terleski, 5-foot-10, 185-pounds - another young arm who will be counted on in 2013.

Class of 2016

  • OF/RHP Nick Basanese, 5-foot-6, 155-pounds - very athletic prospect who has potential to be an impact player in the future.
